We booked 6 nights at the Corrib Village for 500 Euros as it sounded ideal for a family[kids club, babysitting facility, laundry, on-site restaraunt]. However when we arrived the first thing that hit us was the smell - damp & musty. The rooms were very small particularly the double room. The lighting was poor & rooms dull & dreary with grey furnishing. How you'd imagine a prison cell! It seemed ridiculous that we'd left our comfortable home to spend a week here with 2 small kids.
We both agreed that we should look for alternative accommodation. When I informed the staff of our decision to stay one night only they would not allow us the use of the kitchen in the apartment despite the fact we had brought groceries. In the morning we went to the 'restaraunt' for breakfast. We had at least looked forward to a 'full Irish' but that isn't even provided for guests who pay for B&B. Basically, this place is probably ideal for backpackers spending a couple of days in Galway & who only want something very basic. Also, anyone thinking of staying here for their holiday should be aware that Corrib Village is inhabited by students from September -May. No offence to students! But we didn't work hard all year to spend our trip to Galway in students' flats.
