The Eyre Square Hotel is well situated in Galway--close to shops, restaurants, Internet cafe, and the train/bus station. Room rates are affordable during the week but jump on weekends--still my avg rate was a good value. If possible, reserve an upper floor room since the thumping of the lower- level disco goes on well into the night. Their breakfast was excellent and they were able to accomadate veg request.

Myself & my boyfriend stayed in the Eyre Hotel for 2 nights & I have to say it was brilliant, I don't know where some of the people are going complacencia, you get what you pay for! Room was clean, coffee making facilities, bathroom was clean, everything was in working order, I mean c'mon if your gonna pay €55pp per night it's pretty damn good. The hotel is situated in the heart of Eyre Square, the area is known as the place to go for a mad weekend so your going to get a little noise if your going to be dry and head to bed before 12am. So it's like this if you want to stay somewhere where the staff are friendly, the room is basic but clean and you want to make your weekend memorable stay in the Eyre Hotel. As for the complainers whose hobbies includes moaning STAY AT HOME!

The Eyre Street's location can't be beat. It is a short walk across Eyre Square to central Galway's pubs, stores, art, bookstores, and all the rest. The rooms are on the small size and the building in general is a little noisy (noise travels quite well from room to room) but that is typical of an older property IME.

Lovely breakfast spread.

Uneven staff - we first checked in to very congenial and helpful staff, but the weekend team was a bit less helpful. Given the size of the property, a business center would be good. We also had issues with the reliability of the wifi. The bar is quite attractive, but the musical offerings featured while we were there were pretty mundane.

I had the unfortunate exoerience of staying in this hotel last week. On arrival i requested a quiet room as am familar with the area so I was willing to accept a small room on the 4th floor.
As we were attending a wedding, we just checked in and did not return to the room til late and it was the following morning before we noticed the faults.

The toilet took 15 mins to flush, the shower was a powerful as standing under a dripping tap and when i tried to dry my hair the built in hairdryer was as much use as me blowing on my hair myself as it let out a draft of cold air!

I called to reception to request another dryer and was told someone would come up...this someone turned out to be a rude man who had no interest in his job or my problem. He switched on the dryer and exclaimed "it works!!". When i explained that cold air will not dry hair and asked for an alternative, i was told thats all they have and he ran out the door.

I mentioned all this on departure and my comments were shrugged off. I doubt i will ever hear anything from the hotel. I work as a hotel receptionist and would be ashamed to provide one of my guests with that lack of service or even courtesy.

There are so many other choices in galway that i would never recommend this hotel. Its location is destroyed by its standard.

Stayed 2 nights last weekend. Wasn't impressed, wouldn't reccommend it. Stayed on the 2nd floor. Lift was out of order for the whole weekend. Bedroom was big but had a musty unpleasant damp smell, carpet and bedding was stained, curtains didn't close properly. Lots of road noise all the time as the windows were old and not sealing properly when closed. Room was FREEZING cold, even though radiator was on full and bathroom was ARTIC. Decor was shabby and jaded. Staff were pleasant when we asked for anything but never followed through. Asked for an ironing board and iron, waited almost an hour, went to ask again and found 1 in next hallway so took that. Waited a long time for our breakfasts after ordering and both mornings had to ask for our toast, took 20mins for toast to come which was 1 slice of warm bread each. Vegetarian hot breakfast was served with black and white pudding?? Internet site says there's a nightclub there, was closed when we got there, only open wednesday nights. Ate dinner in bar one night, bland pub menu, nothing special. Ordered fish off the specials board, SWIMMING in grease, very off putting. Ideally situated, 2 mins walk to centre of town, apart from location I don't have anything good to say about it. Price wasn't budget but the standard was. Doesn't deserve a 3 star rating.
