Stayed here for one night and believe me it was one night too many!!!
Arrived on a very wet and windy Saturday evening to find that the premises didn't have adequate off street parking facilities. We eventually found a space up the road. Proceeded to check in. Then the
lady on reception continued to show to our room, she moved towards the back door of the house, as if we were going outside, which I found a bit strange, but indeed that was in fact where we were going!!! She brought us outside through what I would call some very shabby accommodation, which brought us outside again, and up some steps to the next shed, where our room was, if indeed anyone could justify calling it an ensuite room, which comes with the price tag €120 per night!!!

It was a tiny grubby room, with a double bed, dirty pillow cases and I dread to think what was under the bed, but it seemed like a pile of
dirty tissues amidst the dust!! The room was so small that the bed blocked the door which led into the ensuite!! There were lots of loose wires, where there were suppose to be light fittings! There wasn’t even a water glass provided!!

Went into the main house for breakfast which was another shambles!! We were shown a lovely breakfast menu the evening the before, and told we could pick whatever we wanted of it, however there was no menu produced in the morning!!! There were jugs out but no juice in them, the milk for the cereal was luke warm, there was a bowl with a little bit of yogurt in it on the buffet table. No bowls or cutlery provided for the cereals. We had to sit down to cluttered table, which eventually was half cleared, had to ask for cutlery. Were given
a pot of tea, which was cold. Asked for a cooked breakfast, which also arrived cold!!! I can’t understand how this establishment remains in business; I couldn’t imagine that anyone would recommend it to their friends…

I cannot comment on the bedrooms in the main house, but I really don’t imagine that they would be of any better quality.

The owners of this establishment obviously have no business acumen; I would suggest that perhaps they should spend a few days with their neighbours, in some of the other fine guest houses located along college road, so as they can see the facilities and service available
in them!

I wouldn't advise anyone to stay in Ashford Manor, it bears absolutely no resemblance to the impression we are given on their website!! All I can say is it boils down to false advertising!!! Don’t go there!!!!!

  • Liked — hated every thing about it!!
  • Disliked — way over priced...dirty with false advertising!

Stayed for the weekend to see the sights of Galway and visit friends. Myself and my 2 children accomodated in a warm clean family room. Hearty Breakfast both mornings. Staff friendly and helpful. Easy 10 min walk to centre of town, 20 mins to Galway Bay . Great location will visit again.

The really only good thing about this place is it's 3 minutes walk to downtown. They charged us 50 euro PP for a room that would be 35 tops anywhere else. One of smallest rooms we've ever had in Ireland. Breakfast was nothing to write home about either. College Road where this is located has a whole host of guesthouses, and I hope the others are better than this.

This B&B is a discrace! At €75 a night for a tiny, very basic and filthy single room it's really overpriced and far from the luxury accomodation shown on their website. My arrival time was confirmed by the B&B yet when I arrived I was told my room would not be ready for 2 hours. I returned to Ashford Manor 3 hours later to find that a plumber needed to repair the shower in my room. The manager offered me a glass of wine by way of apology but suggested that it may be better if she found other accomodation for me instead. Unfortunately I didn't have time for either option. I am absolutely appauled that Ashford Manor treats their guests with such little respect and that this B&B meets with the Irish tourist boards approval.

I phoned to book a double room and was told €75 per room per night, we booked in for 2 nights. Arrived on Friday to a small dirty pokey room. I told my husband that I was not happy paying €75 for the room and asked him if we could leave. He agreed that it was not worth this much money. We brought our bags back to reception and told the guy on reception we were not happy and were leaving. I said the room was not worth €75 per night, he said he agreed and asked if we would look at another room. We agreed and the second room was better although it did not have an unsuite (it was still better and cleaner than the first room). We stayed Friday and Saturday night. We went down to the restaurant on Sunday morning only to be told there were no tables and we would have to eat outside. We then packed our bags and went to pay the €150 and leave, only to be told that it was €300. €75 per person per night as we were put into a better room. At no stage were we told that we would have to pay extra for the room. The room is not even in the house that is on the picture, you have to walk through the tiny dangerous car park at the back of the house into houses out the back. My husband and I said there was no way that we were paying this price only to be told that was the price and that was it. Lucky for us we would not pay this and after a lengthily conversation with the owner on the phone she started to drop the price bit by bit. It was out of pure principal we would not agree to pay these reduced prices and we said we would only pay the €150 (what we were quoted on the phone). The owner then said she was sending her husband down to us and we said no problem we will wait. The girl on reception the got a phone call and told us they would settle for €180 we said no and she said ok then €150. I would never ever stay in this B+B again and would never recommend it either.

  • Liked — When we were leaving. That was the best part of our stay there
  • Disliked — Everything about this place is dirty ans staff and owner are not nice people
