We had our wedding reception at the Ardilaun and it was just fantastic.
We were so well taken of, everything went according to plan and the whole day was just perfect.
We would highly recommned the Ardilaun for a wedding reception.

Loved it, loved it, loved it. Really enjoyed our stay there. Would highly recommend it to a friend. Food is great, service is fantastic, really really pleased overall.
And very reasonably priced also!
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for one night in order to attend a friend's wedding and were extremely diappointed with our stay. On arrival to the hotel at 12.30pm I went to check in but was informed by a quite rude young lady at reception that there were no rooms available and that we would have to wait until 2.30pm to check in. I informed her that my wife and I had to change for the wedding ( which was in Galway city at 2pm) but she just shrugged her shoulders and said there was nothing she could do. However, a nice young man came out from a office behind reception and said that although he had no hotel room available for us we could change in a changing room in the hotel's leisure centre. For 280 euro for a night's stay at this hotel I found this unacceptable. Luckily for my wife she met a friend who had stayed the night before in the hotel and she allowed her to prepare for the wedding in her room. As for myself I had to change in a cubicle in the hotel's pub bathroom (charming u might say!) Overall the staff at the hotel very very accomodating and friendly. The service at the wedding was excellent although the food wasn't. As for the rooms I would have to say that they were plain and boring. Not something you would expect from such a prestigious hotel . On a good note breakfast in the morning was quite good.
After visting this hotel, and straying 3 nights I think people should know that alot of the rooms have not been redone . They still have the pink and blue Laura Ahsley style wallpaper and
and fabrics that was in style 20 years ago. No where on the web page does it show this type of room. I was told it had been completely redone so I was surprised to see such rooms.
I had booked a double room as single occupancy and I got a room 8' wide x 9' long. - with 1 twin bed.
The bath was tiny with a 2 x2 shower in the corner. I was quoted a double room price. I also asked about an elavator in the hotel as I have knee problems and didn't want to go up and down stairs.
I was told "yes" they had one. When I got there they put me in the old wing with no elevator. I asked to be moved but because of the tour business and being booked up they had no other rooms to move to so they said. I finally asked to talk to the manager Maureen and she agreed that my room was not of 4 star quality . Only when I challanged her on the room size did she agree to give a reduced rate for the single room. ( it was a pepaid rate ) We will see if that happens.
Several other prople in my party had the same experience.
I feel they did an old bate and switch. Stay away !.

We have had a number of weekends away at the Ardilaun. What I like about it is that it is child friendly but we dont feel we are at a kids party. Really could say they cater very nicely for the kids without compromising adult service also. Therefore its a delightful location for adults with or without children.
Rooms lovely and spacious
Foyer always something happening, you can relax in the corner with a book and be aware of the world going on around you but at a comfortable distance.
Food - restaurant standard food is offered at hotel package rates - a pleasant surprise.
Bar - nice bar menu with very pleasant service as a welcome alternative from the restaurant
Leisure Centre - a happening place
Theres also functions and events taking place but they didnt bother us in any way - its nice to be in a place thats busy, great for people watching
Staff and management, warm and welcoming in an informal but professional kind of way.
