What can i say. Myself and partner went to galway for the weekend away. As we have never been to galway before we were a little clueless. Wow this did not matter as every need we had was met with enthusiasm. On arrival we were met with a warm friendly smile from the receptionist who was more than helpful along a porter to bring our bags to our room, what a touch! Later that evening we met the manager. A very polite english man who went out of his way to help us enjoy our stay in galway. The hotel itself was unreal! The room was massive and had such luxury. I cant say enough about this hotel and would recommend it to anyone, even a royal! Food, service, atmosphere, comfort and facilities were all fantastic. Cant wait to go again! wish i knew that mangers name. How cool!

  • Liked — the manager
  • Disliked — toilet paper was rough. [--] very sore

A beautiful hotel with the smallest room in the world...8'x10'; closet was all of 12" deep; bath was so tightly compacted that one could burn their legs on the wall radiator when using the toilet. I had booked with a tour and paid a single supplement to have the same rooms as the others on the trip. Instead I was given a very, very small room with a single bed. When I asked to change rooms they refused and were rude. Other staff were polite and the atmosphere was good but the overall experience and treatment would not have me recommending this to anyone.

  • Disliked — unwilling to assist in obtaining decent room...extremely poor service

We used this venue for a cooperate event and found them to be the most rude and unfriendly hotel we have ever dealt with. They treated us like they didn't want us there and made our staff run around in circles TRYING TO ACCOMMODATE THEM. Despite a number of pleas to try and rectify situations that arose (such as them double booking our main room) they responded with an attitude that was entirely unprofessional.

The hotel itself was not very attractive. The rooms were nothing near its four star rating, its a 2 and a half at best and that would be giving them credit. Stay somewhere else in Galway and avoid ruining your trip or your business meetings.

My wife booked directly for me while I was already on the road in Ireland and N. I. She booked a suite not knowing that it would be 700 square feet with 1-1/2 baths, and a living-dining room: in 45 years of travel, the largest hotel room ever for me. I should have brought 8 of my closest friends. Quite far from downtown if you're walking. Also, the gardens are surprisingly small, and given to wedding parties. Very nice, but I suppose it depends on the room you get.

Stayed in the Ardilaun Hotel for three nights with my family. (2 Adults, 3 Kids). When we arrived the reception area looked lovely, however when we arrived in our room we were very disappointed. The decor was old fashioned and did not appear very clean, bathroom door was loose at hinges and difficult to close. Also there was one double bed and two singles for five of us. We returned to reception to inform them of the mistake and they were not very accommodating at all. We were told all family rooms were the same. They did offer to put a camp bed in the room which was already small. The service and food in the restaurant were very poor. Staff did not seem to understand english and one in particular had a serious body odour problem. I would not stay in this hotel again and would not reccommend it to anyone. It is definitely not 4 star.
