We were on a Brendan tour and spent a night at Connemara Coast Hotel. It was a true delight . What can I say but that watching the sun set on Galway Bay and hearing the song of that same title being sung in the pub is something I will always remember. We had a wonderful dinner in the dining room in the evening and a filling breakfast in the morning before setting off on the bus to continue our tour. Our room had a lovely view. We strolled down by the water's edge after dinner and it was so peaceful and quiet. The weather was ideal with not a cloud in the sky. They also had a fun pub with a entertaining fellow playing his guitar. Hope we get to return someday.

  • Liked — view of Galway Bay
  • Disliked — would like to have some place for shopping for Irish souveniers in the hotel because the shops close by closed at 6pm
  • Tips/Secrets: — walk on down to the water's edge to see unspoiled nature

As all the reviews have said the views from most rooms are excellent, however, on our first night there we were given a room which only overlooked the restaurant terrace. You could just about see the sea if you stood on tip toe!

Unfortunately that evening there was a large wedding in the function rooms and as the weather was hot after the music finished at around 01.30, people continued to talk outside on the terrace into the very small hours. As the rooms do not have air conditioning it was necessary to have the window open if you wanted to sleep however the party prevented that. I suspect that many of the people with rooms on the Galway side of the hotel wee kept awake late into the night.

The next morning we changed rooms to the Atlantic side and what a difference that made. Great views and a good nights sleep.

It is not surprising that this hotel is popular for weddings. The food is great and in general the accommodation and staff are superb too.

  • Liked — Position of hotel, swimming pool.
  • Disliked — Some rooms too close to restuarant terrace
  • Tips/Secrets: — Arrive early for best rooms. Avoid weddings at weekends.

For us, this place was the perfect balance of elegance and fun; solitude and liveliness; and rural and urban access. The coastal view was stunning, and the hotel had areas for quiet activities as well as athletic pursuits. The manager was one of the best I've seen as he personally attempted to speak with every guest at breakfast or while in the public spaces of the hotel. Speaking of breakfast, the food at this hotel was some of the best that we had on our trip. We found our room to be clean and adequately up to date. There were some items beginning to show age, but overall the room was fine. We would definitely come back to this hotel.

Just back from a weekend break in Connemara Coast Hotel in Furbo, Galway. The room was OK, have stayed in better but the veiws and the restaurant made up for it. Our room was a smoking with a view of the Aran Islands. From now on I'lI always get a non-smoking room, the smell realy lingers. On arrival we were upgarded to a superior room, which was nice but the ceiling paint work needed touching up and there was paint peeling above the shower area. The bed was massive and very comfortable. The restaurant was amazing one of the best so far and the staff are very plesant. The guest areas are very plush perfect for lounging in. There is a lovely walk straight out of the hotel along the coast with sheltered sitting areas perfect for watching the Atlantic. Our room was overlooking the tennis courts and the laundry area which we didn't notice until Sunday morning so it was very quiet. The room was turned down every evening and a weather forcast for the following day supplied. Overall verdict very good.

I have stayed in this hotel twice. Once in a week end away and once for a staff party. Both times I just saw it as little more than an indifferent place to stay but it had its good points. I didn't like the room either time I stayed. It was just small and out of date. The T.V. was as old as myself but it was clean. The lobby is unique but in a great way. The restaurant prides itself in good service both for breakfast and dinner, try the cinnamon coated deep fried apple slices for breakfast they are divine! The waiters were very personal and we had lunch on one of the stays and was impressed with the sizes of the portions but balked a little at the prices. The hotel itself is a little out of the way with a great view of the ocean (you can walk down to the edge.) The receptionists the first time were great but the second time when a bunch of us arrived they were no more interested in the personal touch. the bar staff were very chatty almost to a fault, which I would normally like but I just wanted some time to myself and mine. I would probably go back again with some persuasion but they try and thats all you ask.
