A large group of us stayed in the Harbour Hotel as it was a hen weekend. The staff were excellent - very helpful and polite. The rooms were clean and serviced daily. We had a meal one of the nights in the restaurant as it was part of a package and it was very good. Some people availed of the bar food and enjoyed it. We also had breakfast delivered to our room each morning and that was very good too ! The hotel has a car-park behind the hotel which was very convenient. The hotel is 3-star standard. Its location is excellent, less than 5 minutes walk to the centre of things. We went to a tex-mex restaurant on the second night called Cactus Jacks which is very near the hotel. This restaurant was excellent and couldn't have been more helpful. There was a stag and another hen-night going on there too. I had reserved an area in Busker Browne's pub for 10 O'Clock onwards and when we got there the bouncers wouldn't allow us due to us being a hen night. However, having made the booking with the manager earlier that day, the fact we were a hen party didn't seem to make a difference. Not impressed and so wouldn't recommend this bar. We ended up in The Quays pub which was brilliant. So glad we found it. The band that were playing there were fantastic and the place was hopping ! When we returned at about 2.30am the residents' bar was closed in the hotel which was a disappointment especially for a Sunday night of a bank holiday weekend. However, we would recommend the Harbour Hotel and The Quay's pub. Shopping in Galway is very good - a lot more choice in the shops than Limerick and the streets were really buzzy in the night-time. Enjoy !

We arrived on a friday eve for a weekend stay...staff very nice on arrival..however we asked for our rooms to be beside each other (Work wkend away 5girls)this did not happen. when we got to our room, opened the wardrobe and found a shirt and underwear from previous occupant lying on ground! front desk were quick to move it..but did not offer to reclean room or move it!
Came back for residents bar on sat nite(after drinking there til 4 on fri) and told bar was closed??? then ordered sandwiches through room service...got half a cheese, half a ham. and half a chicken sandwich!! we were charged €23!! Before we checked out, ordered 5 orange juices from bar..which took about 15mins....was told there was no bottles left so he opened a carton of squeese and charged us €15!!!
We we made our complaints known, the man on reception was very unhelpful bordering on rude!!!
Overall a very bad expereince...would not go back!! were we just unlucky???

I can only echo one of the reviews below - NOT A 4* HOTEL!

-Bedroom very small, stains on carpet, ripped upolstery, treadbare towels, treadbare carpets in public areas, grouting in bathroom grotty.

Good Points
Staff (all very helpful and nice), Location (couple of minutes walk from Eyre Square and down to town)

Was looking forward to a weekend of 4* pampering, very very disappointing. Tip for any travellers bookng an Irish hotel - check out the official hotel rating on --------

Just returned from a great weekend in the West of Ireland and we stayed in the Harbour Hotel, Galway, for one night - we had a fantastic time! The room was big, clean, v spacious; the hotel was lovely and the staff were very friendly. We used the steam room and jacuzzi, really nice. The Harbour is perfectly located on the dock in Galway, just a 3minute walk into town - but there was no noise from outside at night and we only heard a bit of traffic in the morning (Monday). I would highly recommend this hotel.

Il start with the positive : Friendly staff but very young and not experienced. Very inviting Entrance and reception with lovely leather sofas and the christmas decorations looked gorgeous. Good location close to town but should change its name from the Harbour Hotel to the Docks Hotel as there is no view of the Harbour and it is a very busy industrial area.
On a negative note ( yes the above was positive)

The bedroom was too small and very basic more like a travel lodge standard 3 star!
The Carpet was stained and very unpleasant needed to be replaced.
The Bathroom was not up to scratch.
The radiator worked when it felt like it.
There was no air conditioning in the room so the windows would have to be left open to freshen up the room and that was not ideal at night because of the noise.
There was a constant thumping noise it sounded like a boiler and it made noise throughout the day and kept us awake at night.
The walls were very thin and You could hear EVERYthing..particularly people coming back from town late at night.
The Douvet cover was rubbish and kept coming off and the valance sheet seemed to be too small for the bed.
The reason why we decided to go 4 star was because we wanted leisure facilities....And for our stay the jacuzzi was out of order and the staff did not seem very rushed in repairing it and we were there from wed-sat it should have been repaired in 24 hours...That was very very annoying!
The breakfast was alright scrambled eggs were a bit dodgy and the sausages were kinda pale? and the pudding was very strange ....was that real orange juice because it tasted like orange juice mixed with grapefruit juice.
The restaurant was hot and uncomfortable with a very unimagintive menu! We ate in the bar on the first night and the quality of the chicken caesar salad was awful! The chicken was the worst i have ever tasted and the salad was very soggy.
We didnt eat there again.
This hotel is ideal for a cheap/low budget mini break.
You have to be prepared for 3 star quality and if you are ok with this there its ideal for you.
