“Great stay in Gallway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013 via mobile

Hotel was nice enough, Clean, modern, good breakfast with lovely fresh fruits. Just a few minutes walk away from shop street and Eye square. What makes this place is the fact that it is in Galway, the people are so friendly, the bars are excellent, and great musical tallent everywhere you go. Such a great atmosphere all around town. A definite must do

Just back from a great week-end in Galway. By choice we usually avoid hôtels and prefer the freedom of a self catering apartment but for two nights only it was easier this way. We were delighted with the Harbour Hotel. The room was large, clean and comfortable. Pleasant enough to come back to for a couple of hours rest on Saturday afternoon (only so much walking and pub sessions can be sustained!) Great bathroom too with good shower AND a bath! Towels might have been a bit softer but the bathrobe and slippers were a great bonus. Parking was very convenient, much closer than i anticipated, secure and reasonably priced. We also wondered how close we would be to the city centre but it is true that eveywhere was only a few minutes walk away: Eyre Square, the Latin Quarter, The West End, the walk along the Corrib, all were easily reached and the rain held off most of the time! Breakfast at the Harbour was also a good experience with plenty of variety: traditional irish, continental, healthy;;;it was all there. Finally, last but not least, we cannot but praise the staff for their efficiency and charm at all times. Good Irish hospitality as people expect but all too often do not find! Well done the Harbour! The only downside would be the lack of a view from most of the rooms. We were lucky as I had booked (and paid extra) for a room with "Harbour view" which was a bit of a misnomer as the view was minimal albeit better than one of the car park! Just do not expect (or don't care for) the romance of Galway Bay and you will enjoy your stay!

Room Tip: Worth negotiating for a Harbour view room, even if not extraordinary, if it matters to you!

Stayed here with a large group of ladies at the weekend on a Hen. Friendly welcome at both reception and breakfast. Easy checkout, even with all the room shares and swaps that occur with a large group like ours. Special thanks to Aine who I dealt with on email from the start of our reservation process, nothing was a problem and she always had a solution to our room share requirements. Great spot for a girly weekend. Only slight complaint, rooms are very warm, especially with 3 of us in them and windows only open a tiny bit. As we were facing the road we couldn't leave them open at night because of traffic noise.

Room Tip: As rooms are warm, choose a room facing away from the main road, you might be able to leave window o...

Stayed one night mid week B&B got a good rate. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful but we did have to wait some time before our room was ready. The room was clean and comfortable all that you would expect from a hotel of this standard. It's in a good position with an easy walk into town. Breakfast was a very good buffet very filling. would recommend.

Stayed in the Hotel for a midweek break with friends. The hotel is located approx. a five minute
walk from Eyre Square. The staff are very friendly and are very professional when dealing with guests. The food was excellent in the restaurant and good value . A great sellection for breakfast and I had steak for my dinner and it was cooked to perfection. The bedrooms are not huge but adequate and very well maintained. The bed was very comfortable . The hotel is situated a short distance from Ship Street where there are numerous restaurants and bars. I lost my mobile phone while at the Hotel and it was located by one of the staff and returned to me. I wish to congtratulate the staff on their honesty. If in Galway again I will be definitely staying at this hotel

The staff at this property provide excellent service and gave excellent ideas for site seeing and directions. Parking was an issue as we arrived early evening. The staff promptly found a solution. The location of the hotel is excellent. Our room was clean and beds were comfortable. but the bathtub was not adequately cleaned. When we arrived it was very hot and stuffy in the first room. Unfortunately, the room we were assigned was at the back of the hotel adjacent to the venting system and so we could not keep the windows open. We moved street side and it was equally as noisy and stuffy. We saw no sense in moving again. Opening the windows for ventilation would have increased the noise even more. The traffic noise died down around midnight on Saturday, but the next evening we were not so lucky. The iron in our room did not work and the sink and tub were very slow to drain. I would recommend this property overall, but there are few areas requiring improvement.

Room Tip: Try to be as far away from the street and ventilation system as possible.

Just returned from staying 3 nights at the Harbour Hotel. Our first room was a really nice room with a terrible view/location. Front desk employee was awesome and switched us right away, but unfortunately they didn't have much to choose from so we ended up in a room with no windows, but it did have these cool skylights that could open & had shades. The next day, they relocated us & our belongings to a much better room. I was very happy with how the front desk accommodated us.

Pros - location (easy 10 min walk to main spots), validated parking, modern decor, comfortable beds/pillows, ability to open windows, front desk staff, free wi-fi, price.

Cons - bar staff was not very friendly and kept us waiting frequently (and they were not busy), housekeeping did the bare minimum (made the bed, but didn't restock our coffee/tea and did not replace our bath towels that we left where instructed per card in bathroom), rooms were hit or miss with ammenities (since we had the chance to see 3 rooms, plus my in-laws room) some had bottled water, some didn't, one had hot chocolate, the others didn't, etc.

Would I return or recommend? Yes.
