“Nice location, great seafood chowder but very small rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

This hotel is modern, its close to the shopping and entertainment area of Galway and its Seafood Chowder is out of this world - best I have ever had.
However in comparison to the other hotels we stayed in in Ireland, the rooms are very small. I feel its overpriced for what you get. Breakfast just okay

Stayed here for two nights. The view from the hotel is nice and the lobby, dining room and bar all have a nice atmosphere. The room was small enough but comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant on the first night and it was very disappointing. The seasoning was all over the place although the nice selection of wines available did help. Breakfast is perfect, no complaints there. The staff didn't seem too pleased to see us in general but maybe it was because of the time of the year. The hotel would be a good choice for a business trip or a family trip but not for a couples getaway or with friends - I'm sure you can find better in Galway.

We loved this hotel, we stayed here for Christmas. It has a great location near the main Shop Street, cafe's & bars. It has its own carpark. The food was fab, great menu, friendly staff & extra clean. 100% recommendation. The rooms were warm which is always important to me!

My Wife and I have just returned from a short break to Southern Ireland, 2 nights in Galway and 2 in Dublin.
We had a great stay at the hotel, the staff were brilliant and the room very nice overall. We were there for New Years eve, so it was a little lively in town to say the least, but that's why we went. Breakfast was excellent, and if in the area again I'd certainly stay at the Harbour Hotel, it represents good value for money.

The hotel is located across the river off the road leading into town. It's a short walk to the main area of Galway, so the location is pretty good, but the immediate area is weird.

The rooms look like college dorm rooms, and the hotel itself has no character. Breakfast was pretty good, fitness center terrible.

Overall, probably the worst place I stayed in Ireland. Nothing special but it wasn't too pricey, so if you just want someplace to stay it's OK, but I wouldn't spend any more than a night here.

Recently stayed in the Harbour Hotel and would really recommend it. It offered great value, comfortable and stylish rooms along with fabulous food not to mention brilliant service. In a central location, this hotel is a a great place to stay when in Galway.

We stayed here for 3 nights in July 2012 for the Galway Arts Festival. I had researched the web to find a comfortable hotel which had good reviews on Tripadvisor and which was well situated for the various venues we would be visiting. We were pleased with our room but not with the state of the sheets---there were some very obvious stains which looked like old blood or semen. We only discovered them after our first night as I'm not in the habit of turning down the duvet to inspect sheets before getting into bed in a reputable hotel. We were given fresh sheets immediately the following morning. We were very disturbed on our first night by someone in the neighbouring room blasting out the volume of his TV in the early hours of the morning. We were impressed by the quick action of staff following a phone call to reception and peace was soon restored!
On our departure we spoke to Stefan Lundstrom, General Manager, about the sheets and he too was shocked by the photos of them I had taken on my phone. Perhaps the quality control in the laundry room could do with a tweak?
To sum up, two nights out of the three went well and staff took care to rectify any problems.
