I'm just back from a wonderful stay at the westwood house hotel. My partner and I stayed there for 2 nights and really have no complaints. The decor was quirky, the rooms were very clean. The staff were all very friendly. Fantastic breakfasts as well. The pub was again clean and friendly. The room we stayed in was spacious, had a good sized tv and wardrobe. The bathroom en suite was very large and clean. I really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend. Only €9 for a taxi home at the end of the night too!!

  • Liked — Clean, comfortable, reasonably priced, friendly - great pillows!

We were travelling with a private tour of 39 people. We booked into the Westwood for two nights before Easter. All bars in Ireland close on Good Friday, but the Westwood opened their small side bar with a great sitting room so hotel guests could have a drink. They even provided us with free snacks!

The dinners and breakfasts were great. The dining room was very pretty. Staff was very accomodating. The rooms were clean and comfortable with nice ammenities. A safe would have been nice, but we're just paranoid Americans.

The lobby and staircase were stunning. The goodbye mimosas were a nice touch.

It is a 10 Euro cab ride out of downtown Galway but once you know you're way, you can easily walk it. The area was nice and quiet.

We are just back from a two night stay in the Westwood House Hotel. The room was fabulous and the service was excellent. Lovely big bed which was very soft and the carpet was SO soft!! Nice bathrobes and slippers and the decor was very funky.

We ate in the bar and had breakfast and both meals were very enjoyable - nice food and friendly staff.

The hotel is five minutes drive from the Centre of Galway and a taxi only costs nine euro if you are having a drink.

The only problem I had was that you can't turn the room lights off when you get into bed - you have to knock them off with the "Master" switch over by the door!!

I would definitely recommend the hotel to young couples.

  • Liked — The room and the hotel decor.
  • Disliked — Would like some pool/spa facilities but not too bothered that they didn't exist.

I stayed in this hotel last weekend and I had a wonderful time. The hotel really could be a 5star. we were in a suite for 2 nights. well worth it if you can get a good deal. we had dinner in the restaurant on our first night and it was lovely. really great food and service. on the second night we went into galway and ended up back in the lobby with locals having chats until all hours of the morning. great to see a hotel that is popular with locals! david the manager was so helpful and friendly. over all a great experience and I will definitely be back!

I stayed here on the 8th Dec 2007 with my girlfriend. The Hotel is a bit out of town but a short taxi journey is about 8-9 Euro. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious enough and nice and clean with a nice flat screen tv that could be moved to whatever angle you wanted. The bathroom was nice and clean and the shower was hot if a little bit lacking in power. We ordered room service which was very nice - the best room service food I have ever had (I dont regularly order it but have done on a good number of occasions - I had chowder and a chicken salad sandwich and my gf had a burger and we also got 2 qtr bottles of nice red wine. There is wifi enablement which I didn't use and there is supposed to be (free I think) internet access via the TV but I couldn't access it - I think you had to contact reception but I didn't bother as it wasn't too important to us. This was a Saturday night and there was a small wedding. When we got back from the city centre at about 1.00 a.m a guy on a guitar was just finishing up and we had one drink and then sought out the residents bar which turned out to be the bar in the wedding reception. We had 1 drink and brought it up to our room. we were on the second floor and had no problems with noise. We both enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again. I got a great rate too of about 92 B&B total.

  • Liked — the comfortable bed and the nice room-service and breakfast
  • Disliked — nothing really, the shower wasn't very powerful but was very adequate
