I booked this hotel because I couldn't find anything centrally located in Galway for my price range. The Galway Arts festival was just wrapping up and the Races we're beginning the day we checked out. I didn't see a lot of reviews on this hotel, but the ones I did see weren't that great. I wanted to write that my husband and I didn't disapprove of the Ibis Galway at all. My only real gripe was that all of the vending machines and the computer with internet access were out of order. I was starting to think they didn't repair things very often and that the elevator would break down soon. Other than that the rooms were pretty basic and clean. There wasn't a lot of fancy furniture, mostly IKEA quality/style desks and chairs. On the TV I was surprised to find a German language and French language station on the menu since there were only 7 channels all together. I couldn't complain, though. It was a very resonably priced hotel and there were many families with children. There was a lounge with a small resident's bar and restaurant too. In my opinion it is a good place to stay if you don't plan on spending much time in your room.

  • Liked — Resonably priced and clean
  • Disliked — Broken equipment, loud talking elevator
  • Tips/Secrets: — Don't ask for a room near the elevator. Try to stay down the hall where it won't disturb your sleep.

Stayed 2 nights, good value and plenty to choose from the buffet breakfast. Rooms clean and spacoius. The only problem was that it was a good 20 minute walk to the town centre but as I was needing the exercise I didn't mind but got taxis back

Taxi to the centre was about 5 euro and airport about 10 - 15 euro.

If like us you decide to get a taxi back to the hotel get one from a rank as opposed to a taxi office as you won't get charged a call out fee of 2 Euro on top of the metre fare.

There is a well stocked garage shope opposite the hotel and a 24 hour Tesco nearby.

  • Liked — nice roo,ms
  • Disliked — could have been closer to centre

Ibis Galway is the typical Ibis chain hotel but room was much larger than usual at Ibis. Hotel is easy accessible by car as it is near a main street, and a car parking is available for free. Crew is kind and professional; we asked for a double room but we get a twin room: immediately went back to the reception and they changed our accomodation with no problems. Restaurant is ok and not so expensive. The city centre is easy accessibe, but this hotel is not reccomended for who wants to visit the city centre, as it must be reached by car. Overall, a pleasant stay

We needed somewhere to crash out and there was no point in spending a fortune so we booked in. The reception area is tiled and quite "motorway services" type. The room was fine, although the bed was very low but it was still comfy and the sheets were good quality. The bathroom was very small and with poor light (difficult for shaving/makeup) and there was a large shower rather than a bath. It's on the ring road so traffic noise ccan be a problem. The place is getting shabby, especially the bathroom. We'd have loved teamaking facilities in our room like you'd get at a Jurys Inn.

It's not central but is town is probably 15-20mins walk or 5 mins in the car.

I would stay here again as it's excellent value when you just need a bed for the night with no frills.

My husband & I along with our two young children stayed in the Ibis for one night. The room was clean with two double beds and a great power shower....great for passing through Galway for a night. The worst part of the hotel is the OUTSIDE NOISE as the hotel is located beside a major passageway....it sounded like the Daytona 500 or Grand Prix going on most of the night because of the cars racing by. The other side of the hotel is probably quieter.....so if you stay here, make sure to request the rooms NOT FACING THE MAJOR ROAD.
