We stayed here during the last week of August for two nights in a room that had two full sized beds and paid 149 euro per night. It was fairly expensive considering this is not at four star hotel, but having been to Galway before I knew that the location would be ideal. When we arrived, I was surprised at how pleased we were with the room, we had a gorgeous river/park view room that was exceptionally quiet and very suitable to our needs. The partying that people talk about were not the least bit audible from our room, and even when we left our room the first day, once in the hallway we heard the kid next door SCREAMING his head off, and when we were in our room we didn't hear any of it, in fact didn't even know there was a kid in the room. Are the rooms soundproofed? It seemed like it! Don't get me wrong, the room was suitable, not luxurious, and the faucet in the bathroom sink was bearly still fastened to the sink.....but the room was scrupulously clean, and we felt very comfortable there. Once when we were coming back to the room really late after a party we were shocked to see the mobs of drunken revelers that seem to hang out outside the hotel--pretty intimidating if you are trying to get inside (especially with a little 3 year old as we have) but the hotel does a great job of keeping those folks away from the door and having a security guard that has a listing of everyone in the hotel and actually checks it before he lets you in. And truthfully, we weren't even aware of the partygoers outside because of the location of our room, so considering the hotel deals with them well, it doesn't bother us. The location is truly perfect, it's great to walk out your door and be in the center of things. Also, traveling with a three year old, is also a great place to be comfortable and not worry about your kid breaking things or being looked at crossly. I would say a downside though was the lack of air conditioning--for us it was a bit stuffy at times, but not worth complaining about. But if we had been there on a hot day we would have been upset. Also the breakfast is a little crappy for 9 euros, you can do better heading out into town. We thought the parking was great--locked up at night, safe, attached to the hotel, 10 euros per day, all in all a great bargain for us and much appreciated.
All in all, we weren't looking for a romantic, luxurious experience---we had our little daughter with us and just wanted a clean, safe, comfortable place to stay which is what we got. And then the added benefit of the hotel's location and the wonderful view from our room made it worth paying 149E for a room that without those things would not be worth more than 100E.
It was just perfect for our needs.
