If you're looking for a romantic hotel, don't stay at Jury's. On the other hand, if you want something clean, comfy, reasonably priced that's within walking distance of everywhere where you can catch some ZZZs and take a hot shower, it's perfect. A group of us in our late 20s and early 30s stayed here for New Year's Eve, and had a blast. The hotel was exactly what we needed. Admittedly it's not a luxury hotel (squeezy dispensers of soap and shower gel in the bathroom and no minibar or safe in the rooms) but we found it to be spotlessly clean. The decor was modern and fresh and as good as many 4 stars I've stayed in. Parking at the car park next door costs €`10 per night.
We slept in late and didn't bother with breakfast, so I can't comment on the quality of the food, but I'd recommend either Goya's coffee shop or Busker's pub, both on Kirwan Lane, for brunch. There's a great restaurant right next to the hotel called KC Blake's, and we had fab meal at the Thai Orchid, right across from the hotel. I love Galway! Try Neachtain's, The Front Door, Freeney's and Taaffes for pints of Guinness and a great local vibe. Galway rocks! Can't wait to go back...
One negative, the rooms at the front of the hotel are a little noisy as they face onto the main street so you'll get traffic noise, the road sweepers, the rubbish trucks, and noisy drunk people. I still give the hotel 4 stars though, because when we asked for a quieter room, we were moved without fuss by very courteous staff.
