What a fantastic place to stay. As soon as we were in the door Mary had offered us a nice strong cup of tea and lovely irish soda bread. We were sooo close to the centre of town we could pop back easily to drop off the shopping bags before going to get more!! We had a room with 3 beds which were a little tightly packed but we weren't there to spend time indoors, and there were 2 tvs in the room, how many hotels have that!! The beds were amazingly comfortable with plenty of pillows.

The breakfast room had a gorgous view of the river and the full Irish breakfast was plenty to set you up for the day. Mary was a brilliant host, made you feel totally welcome and couldn't do enough to help.

Mary is such a warm and friendly hostest which is really what makes her B&B such a pleasure to stay in! She reminded me of my Irish grandmother who was always looking after us - asking if we needed anything to eat, making sure we were comfortable, etc. We felt like the only guests at her place with the great care and attention she gave us. Plus her place is located in a fabulous area of Galway - so close to everything yet still fairly quiet. Additionally, Mary saved us from making a big mistake in our travel plans and convinced us of a better travel route which allowed us to see more of the area. While the B&B itself isn't anything special, the location and Mary (and her great breakfast!) more than make up for anything that the physical building is lacking!

  • Liked — Mary, the owner and the location can't be beat!
  • Disliked — The interior decorating is nothing to write home about, but it is cozy

I stayed at this bed an breakfast for 2 nights in July. It was a really nice stay. We stayed in a room with two beds. The room and bathroom were a bit tight but that was no problem for us. The house is very close to the tourist area of Galway. The road has parking but you have to pay for it or risk getting a very expensive ticket. The lady running the B and B is really nice and helpful. The breakfast was awesome, typical Irish breakfast. I would go back here again.

St. Martins is an absolute pleasure to stay in. The rooms were spotlessly clean and had just a wonderful smell - not sure how she does it. Ours was a little on the tiny side but perfectly ok. Mary, the hostess, is wonderful - breakfasts are a joy as she is very helpful in telling you where to go and how to get there, etc and introducing everyone to each other at breakfast. It has a great location a few steps away from all of the pubs and nightlife, yet just far enough away not to be too noisy. If you're coming to Ireland to see "authentic Ireland", this is what you're looking for.

We were traveling with our daughter and son-in-law. Mary greeted us warmly and offered a most welcome and hearty tea. The garden view from the dining room was lovely. The rooms were nice and not noisy even though the B & B is very central. A wonderful Irish breakfast was served in the morning. We all wished we had scheduled additional time to stay at least another day at St. Martin's. Mary's brown bread was the best we had in Ireland.
