I brought a friend out here while we were killing an hour on Saturday. We were going to try the pizza place in the Twelve but I decided to opt for Padraicins as I remembered going there when I was younger and it being really nice.
We walked in and kind of stood at the door for a moment or two as staff passed us without any acknowledgment, so we just decided to take our own table. Our waitress was flustered and looked under immense pressure although it was not very busy in there at all. Menu was extremely basic and the specials were boring too. I was hoping for some sort of seafood platter but the only options were hake or plaice (as far as I can remember), at about 18EUR each. Judging by what was coming out I was not going to pay 20 euro for a piece of fish with mash and boiled veg.
As the menu was so boring we decided we'd have lunch and eat out again later. I ordered a tuna and red onion wrap and soup. Soup was minestrone and tasted like it came out of a tin. There was a slice of brown bread with it that tasted like a piece of cake it was so sweet. Very odd. I mean a restaurant called Padraicins which is in Connemara should have AMAZING homemade Irish soda bread. This was just weird.
Wrap was just bog standard with about three miniscule shreds of red onion, a borderline stale supermarket wrap and it wasn't even wrapped properly.
No atmosphere in the place at all.
