“Just average at best served with minimal effort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2014 via mobile

Chose one of the numerous price fixe 3 course restaurants with wine, coffee or tea for €22.95 that dot the High Street in Galway. The bar and restaurant building has lots of character, the food not so much. Not bad, but relatively bland. Service okay, but uninspired.

“Some of the worst food you're liable to have.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2014

Please note - the bad review is only for the food. As a nightspot, the Quays is second to none. A buzzing crowd, a great atmosphere, good drinks selection and loads of room.

The food however, is well below abject. We visited on a stag do, and even then found it inedible and insipid.

All mains were served with the same base of undercooked potatoes, watery vegetables and an unidentified gravy like sauce. The house wine was just a step up from vinegar and getting served was quite the task.

“A Gem.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2014

This place is an unassuming gem. We entered through the tiny front door into a hugh interior comprising of a bar, restaurant, downstairs, upstairs, mezzanine bar in church furniture to find that there was a also a music venue upstairs too! Loved it, the best place in Galway,

“Waste of money, just avoid it!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

Food was tasteless. I got the chicken Kiev and my boyfriend got the salmon. Both served with same vegetables. We could not eat the mashed potatoes and the chips as it was blend. We did not expect much for the price but what a huge disappointment !!!

“Fun pub for drinks and music”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2014

This pub twists and turns, up and down stairs, as you walk deeper into the drinking and revelry. They have a large open area further back, little nooks, and all you could hope for.
As many people have indicated, the prices can be a bit high with the food being a fancier then your normal pub fair. If that's the case, skip the dinner time and come in for some late drinks and music. They almost always have free music at night and they have a unique stage that sits on the second level over the main bar area. It makes for a great spot to sip a brew and jam to some good tunes.
