“A truly amazing, historical, and enjoyable tour of the beautiful Aran Islands.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2014

Michael Faherty's tour of the Aran Island Inish Mor was exceptional. For anyone that wants time to site see, hike, shop and relax with an informative and courteous guide this is the trip for you. We had inquired about taking our two young boys aged 3 years and 10 months and there was no charges for taking our children. In fact, we felt that Michael should charge more for his tours as there is so much that is included for an unheard of price. You will not find a better tour for the money anywhere in Europe. Michael was extremely courteous and accommodating for our family and made every attempt to ensure that we were enjoying our tour to the fullest. Michael provides wonderful information regarding the region of Connemara on the Main Island and a very indepth history of the Aran Islands as he is a native. The tour is very relaxing and you are allowed to go at your own pace during several parts of the tour which is nice because you do not feel rushed and can really take in the amazing scenery and history. This tour is not to be missed for anyone vacationing in the Republic of Ireland as was the highlight of our trip. I travel to the Republic of Ireland often for work and can truly say that Michael's tour is the best experience I have had and would recommend it to anyone to include those with small children like us. Thank you again Michael for the wonderful tour and experience.

“Best Tour!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2014

This was an amazing tour of the Aran Islands. Michael is a native to the islands and he provides a great insight to the culture of not only the islands but of Ireland too. We missed our tour on the day we were supposed to go (our own fault) and we called Michael that night and he was more that accommodating and even agreed to pick us up at our B&B. The tour was great with plenty of free time and on the way back he dropped us off at our B&B. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone that wants to see a side a part of Ireland that most tourists don't see.

“Third time is definitely the charm!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2014

Michael had arranged two Aran Island tours for me, one with my family in 2010 and one with a student group I led last March. Both experiences were outstanding, so when I brought 24 students to Galway again last week, I asked Michael to arrange tours for not only Inishmore, but the Cliffs of Moher and Connemara as well. Michael also fetched us from the Shannon airport and drove us to our hostel, then repeated the journey, in reverse, a week later.

If anything, the extended time with Michael only enhanced my already stellar opinion of him and his command of the area. As a native of Inishmore, now living in Galway, Michael gives tours that are highly authentic and not at all 'touristy.' He has a personal touch that you will never find with the larger operations that service the Aran Islands and west of Ireland, and by the end of my week, he knew all my students names; in turn, they simply loved his Irish quick wit and looked forward to seeing him on he mornings we travelled out if Galway City.

I highly recommend you experience the 'real' Ireland with Michael. You will be happy you did.

“Aran Island Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2014

We made the stop to Aran Islands as part of a 2 day stint in Galway. We had an amazing time touring the islands thanks to Mike. Having grown up on the island he was able to give us a lot of insight into life on the Island and shared a lot of great information. He was very friendly and made us feel at home. He gave us a lot of guided time as well as a lot of time to explore ourselves. We greatly enjoyed our day trip and would highly recommend his tour!

“Wonderful, affordable, genuine tour from a born Islander”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2014

Michael took us to Inishmore on Feb. 16, 2014 and it was a great experience. We never imagined that we'd be able to make it out to the Aran Islands in February (the weather in January had been particularly bad), but it was smooth sailing and 50ºF most of the day!

Michael Faherty Tours was recommended and arranged through our B&B (the Four Seasons B&B Galway), and we're so glad! Michael was early to meet us at the bus station in Galway, and we waited only a little while for our group of 7 people to gather and board the bus. After an informative but casual ride up to the ferry, we were off to Inishmore!

We spent the day driving around in Michael's bus as he took care to point out interesting sites, share facts about other locals and the history of the island. He allowed us a lot of freedom to take our time (easier with a small group), and helpfully offered to take photos where he could. We saw the whole island from end to end, and really feel like we had an authentic glimpse into this gorgeous place. It felt more like visiting a friend's hometown than taking a tour!

We were the first tour after some massive flooding on the island, which had wiped away part of the perimeter road. It affected our tour slightly (no seal colony visit), but was made interesting because Michael was able to tell us stories of his own personal history there- where he'd played football as a kid, and where the road USED to be. I certainly hope they get it fixed, but if not, perhaps a walk along the newly-created beach?

Highly recommended to anyone interested in touring Inishmore or the other islands!
