We were in Galway for a Saturday night of good food and good music. We decided to steer away from the pub fare and ran across this place connected to the famous pub next door. It looked like the "in" place to be, so we thought we'd give ourselves a treat.
It started with the service. We were a table of two in a crowded, bustling bistro. Both the hostess and our waiter acted as if we were more of a bother than a customer from the time we sat down. I ordered the cold seafood plate which was advertised as a large dinner plate. My wife ordered the scallops. My seafood plate contained smoked mackerel (which was the best of the plate), shrimp, crab claws, oysters, etc. The seafood was overcooked and tasteless, totally. My wife's scallops were slightly better. My plate came with a salad, but we weren't informed of that and had ordered a separate salad to share before the main course.
To be fair, the couple next to us had steaks, and they looked good, and they were happy with them. Perhaps if we had ordered steak, we would have been happier. The service, however, was still lacking and the attitude was cold.
This place has potential, but just didn't live up to expectations.
