“Hidden gem of a restaurant!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

For our first night in Galway, we dined at this restaurant at the suggestion of our hotel's concierge. Me dined on sea bass and it was delicious. Service was attentive and the atmosphere cosy. We would definitely come back to this place. A bit hard to find but well worth the search.

“Fresh and delicous oysters!”

Just to add to the positive comments others have written -- I wanted to say that this seafood restaurant serves really fresh and lovely oysters. A must if you're an oyster-lover!

“Better than Quay Street!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

Set around the corner from the touristy Quay Street down an alley. Sat outside in a old stone square - great location. Food and wine were excellent - actually recommended to us by another restaurant that was full. Actually good value - no difference to the host of restaurants in Quay St.

“I would highly recommend.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I had dinner here last night. It was almost perfect. The salad was fresh and the dressing was about the best I've had in Ireland. I had the salmon and he had the hake. Both suberb. A few veggies would have been nice without having to order separately. Dessert was ok. On a scale comparing the food to dessert would be a large difference. €98 for dinner for two, one desert, one app and half carafe of wine.

“A Do Not Miss Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

For our second night in Galway, we wanted to experience one of the better restaurants in town, and The Seafood Bar @ Kirwan's Lane was one of the top 4 or 5 recommended by the hotel where we were staying. We had the hotel make us reservations for that night. The restaurant does not have a fancy front and it is located down a street that is more like an alley than a street, but it was not that hard to find. The restaurant is located on two floors, each of which offered intimate tables for their dining guests. We ate upstairs, and would up sitting next to a couple from Sweden we had met at our hotel. We both had seafood dishes (what else in Ireland?), and this was one of those nights when you could not tell which of us had the better dinner (my wife and I usually taste each other's plate and compare dishes). The presentation of each plate and the quality of the food preparation and taste were definitely top notch. If you are spending time in Galway, I would highly recommend that you not miss a chance to eat at The Seafood Bar. Enjoy!
