“Needs a little TLC”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

Just had a weekend in Ireland and stayed at the Kingston - I have stayed there before but this was my first time back there in 6 years.

The Hotel seems to have lost a little bit of the charm ..the traditional Bar turned into an Italian Restaurants - food looked good and it was very busy both the Friday and Saturday.

The bar was Ok - service was slow mainly because the bar staff were also busy working the restaurant ....however they were very charming and polite.

The rooms sadly need some TLC - they were clean and fresh and very comfy but the bathroom need updating and decor needs attention.

A big plus was the Breakfast .....superb plenty of it and all cooked fresh.

Overall I feel we got good value for money - however I feel that the Kingston lost some of the Irish charm that I remembered and enjoyed.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view --great view.

The kingston hotel is a little dated on first impressions ie the reception area but.. the rooms are comfortable not a bad size. We had a great view of the bay and pier. Bar was excellent as was the restaurant. Great food. very popular. You can get into dublin on the Dart. The station is minutes from the hotel. great views of the bay from the train.

This is a lovely place to stop and see the bay. Near shops etc.

This is a great little Hotel

The decor is a little dated but the rooms are spotless and a good size

The location is fantastic, right by the pier, perfect for a walk before dinner

The bar and Italian restaurant are fantastic, amazing food.

Breakfast was also good with a fine selection

It's not the fanciest hotel in the area but would be hard to beat for the value

It is roughly a half an hour by train to downtown Dublin, but the train is close. The buffet breakfast was good, but the same all four days. Those are the only downsides. The views of the bay were excellent, room was clean, staff was nice, wifi was quick, and I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a bay view

Overlooking Dublin Bay and only ten minutes walk from the Holyhead Ferry, the Kingston Hotel offers excellent accommodation, en suite rooms (some with lovely sea views ) and a very competent, helpful staff. We arrived at the hotel after a long, tiring day's drive and cannot speak too highly of the Receptionist who not only sorted out a clean, comfortable room but organised a parking place for our car and booked us a table for dinner. Splendid service.
Our evening meal in the Oliveto Osteria, the hotel's newly opened Italian restaurant was most enjoyable. Altogether an excellent visit. We shall certainly stay there again!

2nd stay in this hotel. Love the location, breakfast, and restaurant/bar. Rooms very comfortable and we had a great view. Good value and parking.
One problem on this stay - maid left our door unlatched for one day, we were fortunate that nothing was taken. Very apologetic at reception.

We discovered the Kingston Hotel in Dun Laoghaire by following a street sign, after a long drive from the Cork Mountains.
It was 7.00pm. We simply wanted a clean bed. The Kingston offered so much more. Our greeting, by a most helpful and kindly receptionist, was the start of an excellent visit. Our room (102) was large, clean and adjacent to a lift, despite a less than panoramic view!
Dinner, in the Oliveti Restaurant, was really good - beautifully cooked sea bass with a dessert and a good wine cost about 50 euro. Breakfast offered a wide selection served by a friendly, efficient staff.

Room Tip: If you would prefer a room with a sea view then you simply have to ask.
