“great food - not just steaks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

Had a wonderful early afternoon meal of steak and a lovely vegetarian mushroom wellington. Excellent bar selection. Somewhat upscale environment compared to the typical Dublin pub (we sat lower level). We ate off the early bird menu which saved us some money. Food is pricey but if in your budget well worth it!

“a casual steak house for local and tourists alike who like good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

On our first night in Ireland we were referred to the Bull and Castle by a local and we tried twice to get in but was full being the week-end, but finally on the second night had drinks upstairs and was so well treated, the bar man knew his whiskeys and had us try a few ones we did not know and he found us a small table tucked away in a corner . We had really good food, scallops and a steak and a cheese plate which was full of tasty local cheese. The barman suggested a wonderful porter beer to go with the cheese which was a new experience but which we will repeat. On the way out the Manager gave us the name of a real irish pub ( no tourists) to have a final drink, plus wonderful advice on places to eat on our next stops around Ireland.

“One night good...Next time bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

Ate there twice. First time was very good. Next time was pretty awful. Asked for medium well steak. Received very rare. Got two bad prawns. Ugh.

“Good steakhouse”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

We tried to go to FX Buckley in the Temple Bar area, but the wait was nearly two hours. They recommended going to bull and castle. I think they have the same owners. It was a five minute walk from Temple Bar, and no wait on a Friday night. Service was ok. Delicious food.

“Great steaks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

We are from Scotland and we enjoy and recognise a good steak. These were excellent cuts cooked exactly the way we ordered. It was recommended to us by a local . Glad we took her advice.a mix of tourists and locals . Staff very friendly and efficient . We ate early so did not see the show but due to its popularity it still had a great atmosphere. I would definitely recommend .
