“Im in the mood for dancing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

Tonic is probably the only bar in Blackrock where you can dance into the early hours these days. Although other bars do have a late licence this is most likely the only spot where you will still find bodies bopping after midnight at the weekend.

There is a modest cover charge and its not too bad once inside. The smoking area is decked out with sofas if that is your thing.

The dancefloor is a decent size and the tunes are all current stuff. There is seating available too if the dancing gets too much for you.

One word of warning is that you gotta walk up a flight of stairs to get in so keep that in mind if your wearing huge heels.

“Very good steak”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

I visited Tonic with a party of about 20 colleagues recently. The staff were great, couldn't do enough for us - one lady is on a particular diet and had a few special requests on the evening, which were met with nods and smiles and everything was handled smoothly. The steak I had was cooked exactly as I had asked, and I could not have wished for anything different.
We retired to the bar after dinner expecting to move on - but we were having a good time so we just stayed where we were. We might have been a bit loud, but the staff seemed to keep smiling!
The only oddity was the music, which was a slightly odd mix of vaguely Spanish and Greek sounds - sort of Demis Roussos meets Manuel and his Magic of the Mountains... not what I expected at all!

“Cold”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

Never really warmed to Tomic,, despite giving it my best efforts. Eaten there a few times, and the food can only be described as workman like, with little to inspire it. Still, nice beer garden for when teh sun is shining.

“An Ok Pub”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

Nothing amazing here. Not really the type of pub that suits Blackrock, a tad pretentious and expensive. Staff don't really seem to care.
