Description: Thornton's Restaurant is an award winning Michelin starred restaurant located in the heart of Dublin City overlooking the leafy expanse of St Stephen's Green. Innovative and exquisite cuisine, presentation referred to as 'artwork on a plate' and service often compared to a theatrical performance make for a truly memorable experience at Thornton's Restaurant. There is attention to detail in every aspect of the experience, from the intricate food through to the impressive wine list and professional service. Our changing menu reflects the seasonal and local produce available to us and underpins our passion for reigniting the importance of the seasons. Working closely with our providers that supply us with the highest quality of ingredients, we can ensure that our produce is ethically sourced, sustainable and most importantly the best we can obtain. Head Chef and Proprietor Kevin Thornton is widely regarded as Ireland's best chef. Having featured in everything from the Irish Times to the New York Times, Thornton's is celebrated as one of the best restaurants in Ireland and is also internationally commended.

“Very nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

We had dinner here on a night that was very slow - there was only one other table taken during or visit. The service was attentive and thoughtful - we felt very well taken care of. The food is innovative and different. Some of the presentations are adventurous, but the taste is great. Highly recommend it.

Thornton's consistently serves the best food in the city. Every time I've eaten there it has been great. The service is excellent, the food is definitely the best in Dublin and there is is always something going on there.

“Dublin haute cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

The setting is nice, across the street from Stephen's Green. I had a nice walk there and back in that part of Dublin, which was comfortable with the very full stomach after the excellent dinner. The amuse bouche before the dinner, one additional complimentary course in between and the additional dessert were mouth watering, possibly even tastier than the dinner menu of choice, which was expected. Having been only for a short stay in Ireland after a long while I adventurously took beer to accompany my meal. Had three different ones along the way (Irish of course) and was very satisfied with my decision. Overall, good value.

“Poor Protocol”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

I like Thornton's Restaurant. Food is great. However, the proprietor does not deal well with criticism. He has no idea how to handle genuine complaints.
One of my guests found a piece of coiled wire in their pudding. A second round of desserts was produced. This was late at night, and the proprietor/chef had gone home. However, the incident niggled. I would have expected a subsequent phone call to apologize or explain. But there was no contact from the Restaurant.
On a subsequent visit, when Kevin Thornton arrived at the end of the meal to receive his customary plaudits, I mentioned the incident, prefacing my remarks by saying that I had still returned and did enjoy the food. His response was to say gruffly "Nobody's perfect" and turn on his heel back to the kitchen.
Very poor treatment altogether. Being imperfect might cover dust, or unfolded napkins, but coiled wire in a cooked dessert is way beyond imperfection. It is dangerous.
Now I feel it is a pity that the food is so good. Next time, if there is one, I'll skip the plaudits completely.

“Wonderful dining experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

For a special occasion, make a reservation at Thornton's and have the tasting menu with the wine pairings. The ambience is elegant and suitable for a romantic evening as much as for an intimate family dinner. The food was beautifully presented and delicious! The wines were thoughtfully selected and perfect for the individual courses. The service was excellent, attentive yet unobtrusive. Our sommelier Stephanie was very knowledgable and delightful to speak with. We had the pleasure of meeting Chef Kevin at the end of our meal- a wonderful and personal touch to end a memorable evening.
