Description: Ryan’s of Parkgate Street has been a landmark Victorian public house in Dublin since 1886 located at the front gate of the Phoenix Park. It has had many famous patrons thorughout it's years including George W. Bush Junior and Senior who both drank here together and also John F. Kennedy. Ryan's was bought by F.X.BUCKLEY Restaurants in 2006 and since then has been serving fabulous FXB quality food, not only do we serve our famous steaks but a full Gastro Bar menu which recommends the best beer for each dish.

“Lovely traditional pub.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2014

We loved this pub, especially as it was warm and inviting on a rainy day. We were recommended it by the tour guide on one of the bus tours and it did not disappoint. F. X. Buckley are a chain or sorts in the city (unsure about further outside Dublin) and specialise in steaks, they're even mentioned in one of James Joyce's novels! The location on the edge of Phoenix park puts it in a good position if you are going to/from the park or the zoo.

Very good service by the waiters and a very nice atmosphere. The bar is in the same style as the Victorian age when it was first built and I appreciated the historical aspect of it, also the fact that a few US Presidents had drank/eaten here added to the overall atmosphere of the place. We both had the very good value wrap and soup combo for 10 Euro, which in addition to being good value was tasty, hot and filling. So much so that I had it at another F. X. Buckley steakhouse a couple days later!

Would definitely recommend and return.

“Great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014

We loved it. The pub downstairs is full of authentic historical fittings and furnishings and the restaurant upstairs is cosy and inviting. All the food we had was good, especially the kidney starters. All the steaks were first class and the seafood was very good. Reasonable prices for Dublin and good service, especially from Moira. We would definitely go back.

Great early bird. Mussels were outstanding. Some of the best I have ever had. Wings and steak lovely as well. Service was decent and it had a nice atmosphere. This was one of our best meals in Dublin. I would return.
