We loved this pub, especially as it was warm and inviting on a rainy day. We were recommended it by the tour guide on one of the bus tours and it did not disappoint. F. X. Buckley are a chain or sorts in the city (unsure about further outside Dublin) and specialise in steaks, they're even mentioned in one of James Joyce's novels! The location on the edge of Phoenix park puts it in a good position if you are going to/from the park or the zoo.
Very good service by the waiters and a very nice atmosphere. The bar is in the same style as the Victorian age when it was first built and I appreciated the historical aspect of it, also the fact that a few US Presidents had drank/eaten here added to the overall atmosphere of the place. We both had the very good value wrap and soup combo for 10 Euro, which in addition to being good value was tasty, hot and filling. So much so that I had it at another F. X. Buckley steakhouse a couple days later!
Would definitely recommend and return.
