“Good food, slow service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2014 via mobile

As a regular customer, I find the food good with value for money and there is also friendly staff. However, there is two tills; and at lunch time (when it is at it's busiest), the second till is never in use - resulting in a long queue wait. Also, there's a selection of over 12 salads, but there is only 2 salads included with your meal. In my opinion, you should have an option of two salads and lettuce leaves or 3 salads of the same weight/size of 2 salads, or option B do a new charge for half a salad; as I find at €13.95 a plate, you don't want to buy another big salad. A recommendation I'd also like to make is for quinoa salads to be available as they are usually found in vegetarian/vegan restaurants. There is also no easily available comment cards to provide suggestions even though there is a comments box.

“Veggie Palace”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2014

If you are after real veggie food then this is the place.

A fantastic and imaginative array of dishes are made here, something for everyone - salads, hot food, soups etc and the portions are generous. Good value for money we felt and a selection of alternative tea.

The staff are friendly (if always busy); try sitting upstairs as it is more open and you won't be bothered by the queue to the door - there is no table service here. Be warned if you go at lunchtime - that queue will be long!

There is a wine licence where you can have a pretty decent carafe of wine with your food which sets this place above your average food joint in Dublin 2.

One thing to be aware of, if you do bring the kids - don't bring the buggy! The serving area is tiny and as previously noted there is no table service (didn't see a lift to the upstairs) and you do have to grab your own utensils; this maybe a bit difficult if you have a tray and are trying to dodge all the other diners.

Other than that we will return.

“Good food, disorganized venue”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

Cornucopia, along a cobbled street near the heart of Dublin, nestled amongst picturesque cafes, a bright ice cream shoppe, and a few health food stores, advertises itself as a totally allergen-friendly, modern Irish fare. Unfortunately, the cafeteria-style setting, disorganized and haphazard setting of tables and bustling waiters who seem to hurt more and help in clearing away piling up platters, make for a displeasing experience that detracts from the wholesome, enjoyable food. With food for every dietary restriction possible, it's a gluten-, dairy-, and egg-free San Franciscan's paradise, until the mishmash of food is dumped on a tray and unceremonially thrust into her hands, the various sauces leaking into one another, and ushered by impatient line-waiters and a chaotic team of chefs and "hosts" into payment and a hard-to-find silverware line. Since the food is kept fresh only by heating pads, a few members of my party complained of lukewarm or cold food. The best dish amongst my group was unanimously a butternut squash soup, both flavorful and hearty, though a quiche was reportedly bland and curry unpleasingly cold. Try to sit upstairs, as downstairs is both crowded and prone to smoke wafting in from the vents from outdoor diners.

“Adore this place, top quality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

Honestly one of the best and healthiest places to eat in Dublin. There's so much choice and everything tastes equally fantastic. The small salads in particular are great and actually a really satisfying portion size. Really wish there were more places like this in Dublin!

“Still going strong...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014

I used to eat here regularly while working at Trinity College Dublin nearly a decade ago. I was very pleased to see that what was back then quite a little and often crowded place has not only kept its delicious menu but also expanded quite substantially. The food is as delicious as it used to be, food that always tastes like a very dear person had cooked it especially for you to make you feel good. It is still self-service (though not busy when we were there) and service is patient and very friendly. They offer a range of innovative vegetarian mains with a wonderful selection of different salads and excellent puddings. Many diets (vegan, gluten free etc.) are catered for and clearly labelled. There is is certainly an 'alternative' vibe about the place which might not suit everybody but the food is simply very good, fresh, seasonal and satisfying. I noticed that they also sell their own cook book for those customers wishing to get reproduce Cornucopia's dishes at home.
