Great food and reasonable prices only complaint would be that they wouldn't serve tap water so you had to buy bottled.

“What have they done to the "Bad A** Cafe"?!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

Okay I had to change the words "Bad A**" in order to get this review published - how strange when the name of the restaurant I am reviewing is considered to profane?! After a two (three?) year absence I returned recently to dine at the Bad A** Cafe. I had my six year old in tow and had been selling him the virtues of the quirky and frantic atmosphere. What a shock when we arrived to find the Cafe had been refurbished! The place used to remind me of an ant hill in the past as orders were taken and food was delivered; it was one of those restaurants where the hectic pace created its own eclectic atmosphere and that was what I loved about going there. The food was always of reasonable quality and prices were average. There are other restaurants nearby where one can go for better food so the main focus was on the ambiance. Well the owner obviously decided that was a selling point because he's turned it into a "Euro Pub". It now has no redeeming atmosphere - it's just another bar in Temple Bar now I'm afraid. In the past I'd meet people who'd been to Temple Bar and the Bad A** experience was something many talked about! I was so upset I can't remember what I had as a starter or if I even had a starter! I did enjoy the burger I ordered which was chicken fillet with guacamole, chilli sauce and cheese....the chips I believe were oven chips (you know that kind of soggy cardboard like consistency anywhere). Why don't restaurants see the value in peeling a few potatoes and making real chips. I do them myself at home - it isn't so difficult. For desert I ordered....nope sorry I can't remember that either. That pretty much sums up the whole experience - forgettable! And let me make one last remark. The Bad A** had a novel pulley system for sending receipts and orders to and from the kitchen from the tables. It was gimmicky but it was unique. The refurbishment retained the feature but they are now alas tied up and hanging forlornly. It's a sad reflection on what was once a focal point of temple bar hence I'm rating this one as poor. A refurbishment gone bad!!!

“Enjoyed a nice lunch, reasonable prices.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013 via mobile

Stopped for a quick lunch and had a very good seafood soup and some of the best mushroom soup ever. The soups were advertised with bread, but they were stingy with that, which brings the marks down a tad. I'd recommend it overall as they seem to have a good chef.
