“Spencer Dock Apartments”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

A great place to stay. We stayed at the newer Spencer Dock apartments versus the Parnell Street apartments. Inner Dublin is not as romantic as many think so avoid the chaos of Parnell. SD Apartments are clean and any minor omissions ( double bed instead of 2 singles, missing hairdry , etc ) were corrected within hours by Damian . Great job. Hats off to the Dublin City Apartments manager Ben Dean for making sure we were happy plus a bit of tourist advise also. One peice of advice Ben.....it was difficult understanding originally who I was renting from. There are several management companies leasing apartments for investors in these condo complexes and my first contact - your competitor- sounded vague and sketchy. Explain to tourists about the ownership structure of these apartments and people will feel more at ease. I chose to deal with Ben even though his quote was slightly higher and I don't regret it

Although an excellent location - having hot water is a must in winter time. Continual contact to fix the hot water system, resulted in no conclusions. The kitchen is ill equipped, for a serviced apartment, even requests for additional toilet paper or towels fall on deaf ears.

Great service from Dublin City Apartments, lovely place to live in, wonderful area - maybe the best in Dublin, in our view. Will definitely use this service again, as we were delighted with everything. Thanks and congratulations.

An excellent stay was had in one of the Grand Canal Square apartments over the New Year period. The apartment was clean, spacious, simply but tastefully decorated and furnished, had a lovely view of the Canal from the apartment balcony, and was superb value for money. The customer service from the Dublin City apartments team, from the manager to the receptionist and the transfer driver was excellent too, and I was most impressed with the speed of response and helpfulness to any queries. I would happily book with the company again and recommend others to do the same.

Room Tip: A room with a view over the Canal is recommended.

We rented an apartment In September 2012. We paid an addition 54 euros for an early check in which never happened. The cleaning crew missed cleaning it so we weren't able to get in. I have been waiting 6 weeks for my refund. They stated it was done 12 days ago well it wasn't, replied to let them know and asked for a tracer number so I could follow up, needless to say no reply. Also had an extra $27.54 charge on my credit card, not sure where that came from so I am disputting that.

There were no directions onhow to use the combo washer/dryer, we figured out the washer part but had to hang our clothes to dry, easier then trying to get them to help. They said there are usually instructions but ours must have went missing. Didn't explain how to properly use the water heater either. Ran out of toilet paper, notified them at 9 am in the morning, by 4 pm still no paper, lucky for us ladies we were out and about all day.

Ben and Johnny were quite helpful and responsive when we were working through the rental process, it appears that after that part was complete the customer service went down the toilet! Without toilet paper may I add.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment - the Ivy Exchange one, and were all very pleased. We booked about two months in advance and it was very cheap - there were 5 of us although the apartment could accomodate 7 or 8 people easily - and we each paid less than 40 euros per night. When you check in, you must do it at the nearby townhouse, the Kingfisher, as Dublin City Apartments does not have a reception. However, the people there are very helpful and will call a representative of the other company if you need anything that they can't help you with.
The area was very nice, very close to the centre just off O'Connell street. Nearby we also had Parnell Bar - a very nice pub (and not too expensive either), a Tesco's and Lidl. The building seemed very safe to me, it has CCTV and a warden and you need to pass about 4 locked entrances to get inside.(it does get annoying because it takes so long).
The apartment itself was very spacious (apart from one of the bedrooms which was tiny), had two bathrooms and it was very clean. The only thing that lacked was a hair dryer.
Also, about the hot water, it must not be working at night, I think after 10 pm and before 8 am, so make sure you have that in mind.

We stayed with Dublin City Apartments on our recent trip to Dublin at the Lafayette Apartments. Linda Collins and Johnny Drake could not have been more helpful, they eliminated any concerns we had, were prompt and detailed with answers and the apartment and location were unbelievable. This was a great experience and I HIGHLY recommend staying with Dublin City Apartments.

Room Tip: Both rooms were great! Master bedroom was perfect! Two bathrooms as well! Room to unwind!
