“Good hotel. Ok location. Helpful staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2009

We had a baggage problem leading up to our stay here and the hotel staff helped us to figure out some of our issues. Parking is an issue here since they have only a small on-site lot. We stayed one night and just parked in a garage for €10. The room itself was well appointed and had two twin beds that were situated next to each other. Good enough I guess.

The hotel is situated in an ok neighborhood a little north of the good stuff in Dublin. If you want a perfect vacation, try to stay south of the river. You'll save on some extra walking and be around more inviting restaurants and bars. The people hanging around here seemed more local and since there was a big soccer game the day we arrived, they were all liquored up pretty good. Actually saw a cabbie and a hooligan fistfighting across the street from the hotel. No tackling, just punching. Crazy.

We booked through Orbitz and paid $140 for the room. I would say it was a decent deal. There were plenty of stores and restaurants within walking distance down O'Connell street.

If you stay here, write this down: Maldron Hotel Parnell Square is located at the Northeast corner of the intersection of Upper Dorset St & Granby Row. It was not in our GPS and so we were driving in circles because apparently in Europe it is not common to post an actual mailing address online.
Also, this hotel had a phone and TV but no alarm clock.

The hotel is located on the north side of the river Liffey near the top of O’Connell Street. It is a nice three star property, the room was a good size, it was very clean and we had a large comfortable bed. Our room faced a main road so there was a little traffic noise but it did not disrupt our sleep. We found this property to be very good value for money and we would stay here again however if we could get a similar standard hotel for the same price south of the river we would take it as it would be closer to the main tourist sights.

I stayed for three nights Thursday- Sunday with a friend. We arrived late on the Thursday night, about half past 11, so were grateful that check-in was really quick and easy! The hotel was also only two minutes away from the bus stop on O'Connell street where the Airlink bus dropped us off.

The room wasn't huge, but was really nicely decorated, with very comfy twin beds, flat screen TV and a desk area. There was a neat little tea and coffee station as well, plus an ironing board. The bathroom was simple but functional, and had one of the best showers I've ever used- much better than my one at home! It was also spotlessly clean.

There's free internet but it isn't wireless, so only one of you can plug in at a time and you can only really use it sitting at the desk. There's wifi in the very nice reception area and coffee bar though. Staff weren't super friendly, but perfectly polite and efficient so no problems there.

Some locals we spoke to said the hotel was in a bit of a 'dodgy area' and told us to watch our handbags. I personally didn't notice anything that made me feel unsafe, and am always careful anyway. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from Temple Bar, and its a nice stroll down O'Connell street- maybe if you were travelling with older people or small children you'd look for somewhere more central, but for most people it's worth the walk for a quiet night's sleep!

The hotel is right around the corner from the Dublin writer's museum and the City Art Gallery. I'd really recommend the latter: it's free to get into and has some really interesting exhibits and a good regular collection.

This was a great value place to stay in an otherwise expensive city, working out less expensive than a private room in some of the hostels for the same weekend. I'd happily go back.

I was staying here with my wife for 3 nights. The location is excellent (really 5 min from the O'Connell street).

Advantages:
- Very good location (but loud)
- Relatively cheap
- Nice view (from our room at least)
- Clean and nice room
- Free (and quite fast) internet access (only LAN no Wifi in the room)

Disadvantages:
- Very small room (at least ours was small)
- Food at the bar is not good, go to somewhere instead (breakfast is ok)
- Usually no place for parking with car (on the street you need to pay 2.9 Eur / hour)

I was a little bit angry because for the last night they have charged 188 Eur (double price).. which is tooo expensive for this hotel... I though this is because of the weekend (still too expensive) but it turned out that a large festival took place on Saturday (Oxegen or something like it) so this hotel doubled the price! (maybe all other did it too)... so I was a little bit angry...

Whilst we had a little trouble finding this hotel (my fault - not the actual location) we had an excellent stay. Its located right off the main street so you have the perfect location for shopping, the attractions, public transport without being on top of it all. All rooms come with free broadband which is a major plus as well as flat screen TV's. Our room had a problem with the broadband, i called reception at around 11pm, the chap from reception shot up to my room, did a few checks then asked if i would like to see some other rooms where it might be working (i was hoping they wouldnt send for an engineer that would turn up 1 hour later and couldnt fix it like in most places), he took me round 5-6 other rooms which had the broadband working and i was allowed to choose the one i liked the most. I choose one with a great view and the chap from downstairs moved us there in a flash - excellent service! The place is spotless, stylish inside and comfy beds. Its not a cultural hotel but it is a stylish one and id return in a flash (probably wouldnt have the breakfast though.. a little too salty for my liking)

What a pleasant stay we had. We arrived late from the airport and checked into a room that was perfect. We were travelling with 4 year old twins and had been in Spain. I booked the room over the internet and thought that we were going to have 3 beds, but upon check-in they said that we had booked 2 twin beds...which obviously would not work. But no problem...they changed the room and put us in a room with a queen and 2 twin beds...clean room, well appointed, nice shower. Overall, a great experience at a good price in a seemingly very expensive city.

Stayed at hotel for 2 nights, and was very pleased with our stay. Very welcoming gentleman at reception and no fuss when checking us in. Booked breakfast for following morning as it worked cheaper than any local cafes in the area. Nice room with wonderful Queen size bed and clean bathroom(which is essential for me!). Location to OConnell St was stated as 10mins walk, but it was a good 10mins walk, nearer 15mins I would say.If you are not a great walker I would go nearer but then it wouldnt be so quiet. Would definately stay at hotel again, although wouldnt visit Dublin again as I was disappointed.
