“Nice stay in quadruple bedded room but noisy!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

We have visited Amberley house in may and stayed there for three days. There has been free wifi which signal was unfortunately not available in the lower floor anymore. The house is based on the northern part of the town near to the river with its bridges. You can add breakfast to your booking for a few euros. Hotel stuff is 24h available at the reception. You can pay via credit card but you have to pre-pay a part of the ammount before arrival.
You can get to temple bar in a few minutes walk
We prefered to have our breakfast at the o'sheas hotel bar around the corner.
Unfortunately we have had the room in the lower floor which means not getting much sleep thanks to noise from the main road and the water pumping machine in front of our window. Of course the water is chloridized, so that you smell like coming out of the swimmingpool after having a shower. price was acceptable (without breakfast) about 500€ for 4 persons for 3 nights.

I stay here regularly when in Dublin. Amberley house is in a great central location and is surprisingly quite for being situated on a busy street. The rooms I've slept in have been a decent size with comfortable beds and the staff are always friendly and obliging. I find it great value for money as it provides the same facilities as many more expensive hotels (free WIFI, tv, tea and coffee, hair dryer, ironing board etc.) and they even provide complimentary bottled water. The building itself is perhaps a little dated and the lack of an elevator, I'm sure, proves problematic for many people but the positives far outweigh the negatives in this case.

Amberley house is easy walking distance from the main centre, but quiet for the centre of town. We had a room at the back which was very spacious and quiet. The rooms at the front are on the main street so I cant comment on whether they are much noiser. Great irish breakfast if you are used to eating that much. Perfect for getting buses to and from the airport. The stops are right outside and run every 15mins from the airport. Good Wi Fi. Not great if you have a problem climbing stairs. Would definately stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back

I stay here often when I am in Dublin on business. Staff are friendly and helpful. Beds are very comfortable. Place is nice and quiet even though it is in the center of town. I would ask for a room at the back of the property if possible. I have never eaten so cannot comment on that.
WIFI is good here too. Place is very reasonable. Some of the rooms at the back are like a 5 star hotel.

Room Tip: Stay at the back of the hotel if you want to avoid the traffic noise from the street.

We stayed in an apartment room at the Amberley House for 3 days in early June, 2014. We were on the 1st floor (#47), facing Lower Gardiner Street, on which both the Amberly House and the separate building with the apartments are located. Gardiner Street is fairly busy, and the street noise was noticeable, both from cars and from foot traffic - the area has many B&Bs and a lot of pedestrian traffic from those hotels to bars and back. While that prevented our keeping the widow open, we did not hear our neighbors, and we were able to sleep fairly well.

The apartment was well-equipped and very clean , with good furniture and recent appliances including a refrigerator, a range, toaster, an electric kettle, a washer/dryer unit, a dishwasher, and full kitchen equipment and dishes, as well as soap, towels, etc. We got up early for trips and made use of these capabilities and food from a local Spar market for breakfast instead of the House breakfast. The bath had an on-demand water heater with good pressure and very warm water. All were great. The downside for us (nonsmokers) was that the room had more than a slight odor of cigarette smoke, and since we could not keep the windows open, it got a bit stuffy.

The staff were very helpful and kind. We had them store our luggage on arrival, and when we returned after a good bit of walking, they were quick to put our room in order so we could check in and relax. They were helpful in suggesting good places to eat as well. The Celt Bar is about 2 blocks away; we ate there at their suggestion and found it both good and very crowded. The adjacent Caribe - a sister restaurant of the Celt, but focused on more French cuisine - was also very good.

We found the area busy with all manner of activity and all manner of people, but it seemed fairly safe during the hours we were about. There were always a lot of people around, and the apartments have two locking doors between the hallway to the room and the street. The location is about 10 minutes' walk to most of the major tourist spots in the centre of Dublin, so we walked everywhere. If you want to ride, there are stops for the bus very near the hotel; the Airlink bus stops just in front, too. There are also tram stops on Talbot Street, just about 2 blocks from the House.

For us, the location, the price and the convenience of having a working kitchen were real plusses. We would stay here again.

We stayed here for our last night in Ireland. We wanted a little nicer of a place than our first 2 nights in Ireland. We were able to book the room on the train from Kilkenny on their site. When we arrived it was still early, so they allowed us to store our bags and suggested a nearby place for fish and chips lunch! When we returned they gave us the bottle of wine promised for booking online and we collected our bags to go to our room. The room was a little confusing, it had 4 twin beds, though it was described as a double and a single on the website. We should have insisted on the room described because it WAS our last night in Ireland for our first anniversary, but we got enough of a giggle out of our silly room and had a lot we still wanted to see, so we didn't. The beds were comfy, even if only built for one. The street outside was a little noisy and we couldn't keep the window open because of a loud AC unit or something right outside and because it was ground level. We had to get up EARLY for the airport but the shower made up for it because it was AWESOME! I wish I could take it home! It was a little on the small size, but the pressure was like a full body massage! The staff was also very nice to allow us to eat breakfast a little early. The Airlink airport bus stop is RIGHT across the street, so added bonus!

The neighborhood is 2 blocks into sketchy. It would not take much to make the street shine. Trash removal, a good sweep and some flower boxes and you would describe this block of Georgian Town homes converted to guest houses, as very charming. Amberley House makes the effort as the close up photo of their entry shows. Our cab driver told us that he wished we were staying at a better address. That put us on guard. All that said I want to tell you that our room 16 was clean, comfortable, quiet and well appointed. The bathroom was all tiled and new and large. We found a 5 star Yelp rated Thai restaurant 2 blocks away that was stellar. It was an easy walk to the main part of the city and very near a Hop On/Off bus stop. It was affordable and comfortable. We did not take advantage of the breakfast offered as we got up and out each day. The hotel served as a very good 4 night base for our 4 nights in Dublin. We used the elevator to take our bags up and down. The rest of the time we walked the easy stairs to the room. If you are looking for a clean bed with a nice shower/bathroom, this is fine.

Room Tip: We backed to a school and we were never there when the children were there. Street side might be noi...
