“Great location for airport and DCU/Helix”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

Staff were very friendly, and a late check-in was no problem (1am) from a late flight. The location is great, and really close to the airport. I was attending a conference in the Helix the next day, and the cost to stay here was much cheaper than others in the area (Crowne Plaza, or even DCU Campus).
It is typical of what you expect from a Travelodge hotel, and this one is quite new. There was safe parking underground and it was free. The room was spacious and clean. didn't get a chance to have any breakfast.
Would defo stay again

Great value for a one night stay. Rooms were clean and fresh, the whole hotel was warm, corridors included. The only down side was the carpet was very stained in a lot of places and only one mug for the tea. The bathroom had bath and shower but only one small bar of soap. The 2 euro credit card charge is not a welcome sight at the end of your booking. We stayed here rather than drive home after a late arrival flight.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper get a room at the back and high, as it is a busy road early morning. If th...

It was my 4th stay in this hotel but this time I am disappointed. I have stayed for 3 nights and I have been supplied only 1 bar of soap during my entire stay in the hotel and complementary coffee and tea supply has never been topped up. The stirrer was missing as well and never been supplied either. The bin was emptied on my last day of stay and the sink never been cleaned. I had to go to reception to get my door keys reset every day until I asked the reason why and only then I was told that I had to re validate my keys daily. I understand it is quite reasonable hotel to stay in and if you're staying only one night you wouldn't notice any of these problems but then these're only small problems and easy to deal with but experiencing so many of them at the same time is a little bit too much.

We were dropped off at the Swords Travelodge by mistake. This Travelodge was nicer and 33% lower cost than the Swords one. The neightbourhood is safer at Swords and we were advised against taking a walk outside the Ballymun hotel by the taxi driver and by friends. We chose this one originally because it was fairly close to the airport.

The hotel is fairly new and the rooms are very large.
Rooms have a kettle and an ironing board/iron.
The bathroom is very nice with a tub and shower.
You have to pay 5€ for 24hr Internet.
I would stay here again.

The hotel smells awful - cigarette smoke in all of the halls. There was a giant hole in one of the walls in the hallway. It's a bit far out from city center and not as close to the airport as you might think from the name ($20-$30 cab ride either way). The beds were uncomfortable, and they didn't provide any shampoo or conditioner. I had to go downstairs to get soap. They do not offer laundry service (in case you were interested in it). The people at the front desk always took a very long time to get through any line (partially not their fault), but once I got to the front of the line, I got the impression that I was bothering them, and that they were extremely unhappy. The hotel claims to have security - double doors locked by a room key-card out of the lobby. No matter what time we came back to the hotel, those doors were always unlocked. I would never stay here again and caution anyone else not to.

Dear Katie O

Thank you for your comments. It was unfortunate that your concerns were not brought to our attention at the time of your stay in particular the comment relating to the comfort of your bed and the amenities provided. We provide 125 luxury bedrooms with "5 star Diamond Reylon" Matresses. Of the 269 reviews on tripadvisor, 84 travellers have commented in particular on the comfort of our guest bedrooms.

In relation to your remaining feedback, I'll summarise as follows;

"far out from the city centre and not close to the airport"... we are 10 minutes by car to both locations... please refer to our website and travellers reviews.
"hotel smells of smoke"... we pride ourselves in been a smoke free hotel throughout.
"they do not provide a laundry service"... no, but we will direct you to the local laundrette.
"front desk took a long time to get through the line"... I can only assume that a line of people reflects our popularity in providing first-class accommodation in Dublin. Once you get through the queue, I can assure you, you will be greeted with the utmost in customer care and attention.
"double doors unlocked"...please note these doors are internal fire doors; we do not have any security issues in the hotel.
"giant hole in the wall"... Indeed there were repairs to an internal wall last month (September) that was addressed by our efficient maintenance team within a 24hr period. Please accept my apologies if this necessary ongoing maintenance infridged on your stay with us.

Kind regards,

George O'Gara

On a recent trip to Dublin, I searched the reviews and booked a room for two at the Travelodge Dublin Airport Ballymun for $53.00 per night so decided to stay for the week. We had a great time from checking in, to check out. The staff was great and offered suggestions as too many places to see and eat at to get a better feel for the area. Our room was very nice, spacious and well decorated. We used the bus to get around instead of the taxi and saved a lot of money.

The accomomodation was of good quality and the staff on reception were generally helpful. However...the service we received in the restaurant on Sunday morning was abysmal - we waited more than 20 mins for our order to be taken, surrounded by dirty tables, and a futher 25 mins for it to arrive (beans on toast and a bagel with cream cheese!), and even then the order was incomplete. The staff did not appear to have any training in customer service and we had to ask several times for our drinks and for cutlery.
