“exemplary!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2010

We could not have been happier with our stay at Brookville Guest House. It completely exceeded our expectations and provided a wonderfully comfortable base for our visit to Dublin. Liam and Dei were fabulous hosts and made us feel very at home from the outset. The breakfasts were exemplary and the hot-tub and sauna were a real treat. Faultless - we'll be back!

Most of my business travel involves staying in a hotel with hundreds if not thousands of other guests, spending $18 for a breakfast of 2 eggs and a slice of toast, hearing the same news repeat every 30 minutes as you work in your hotel room using CNN as company/background noise. The Brookville Guest House is the opposite experience to an extreme. Personal, first-class service from the proprietors, Liam and Dee, who quickly turn from landlords to friends. The rooms are comfortable and well-equipped with TV, Wi-Fi and bathrooms en suite. The house is well located in Blackrock (a short drive or bus ride into Dublin city center) and there are a number of good pubs and restaurants within walking distance in this residential neighborhood.

We are a mature couple who stayed at this guest house with two other friends for the first and last night of our 5 night break in Southern Ireland. What a find! We booked it mainly because of the close proximity to the stenna ferry terminal, (about 5 minutes by car) it was also very easy to get into Dublin city on public transport as the bus stop was just across the road. We can't praise this guest house enough it was superb. Rooms were on suite, spotlessly clean and had every possible thing and more that you could wish for, ie. tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, fridge, microwave, telephone, alarm, television / cd player. Breakfast was excellent, with lots of choice. The hospitality shown to us was superb, nothing was too much trouble. There were no minus points at all. Book it, you wont find better!

When we arrived on our flight to Dublin to attend the funeral of a much-loved uncle we were only due to be in Blackrock for a few hours before returning home that same day. Volcanoes erupting in Iceland meant we couldn’t get home for 2 nights and so we found ourselves booked into Brookville Guest House at short notice so we had a place to stay. How lucky were we. In no particular order we encountered the wonderful, nothing was to much trouble for them hosts in Liam and Dei, an authentic home from home appeal of the house, magnificent breakfasts, very spacious and comfortable room, considerable help with our chaotic travel arrangements and just when we thought everything was just so, Liam showed us the magnificent spa pool complex in the garden which we were able to use at a moments notice and found immensely beneficial. This is truly a magnificent Irish Gem and we are looking forward to going back in the summer of 2010 for a stay with the rest of our family. I am 46 years old, have stayed in various places throughout the world over the years but this is the first accommodation that I have felt compelled to put a recommendation in writing for.

Having travelled the whole of Ireland several times and stayed in a large number of B and B's, Brookville House ranks #1 in my book. Liam and Dei are welcoming and very friendly without being intrusive. The rooms are comfortable and private, the food excellent, the service top notch. A better experience would require a trip away from planet Earth ;)

By far the best place i have ever stayed. Liam and Dei go out of their way to make everyones stay enjoyable and nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms are lovely and clean and are equipped with all the amenities a person needs, including free internet access. I would highly recommend to any person travelling to Dublin and everyone is catered for from young to old!!

Dei and Liam gave us Ireland's welcome at our arrival and, at the end of our tour, made easier our sad departure. The accomodation is lovely and clean, Liam's breakfasts are excellent and the tiny spa is romantic (isn't it? ;) ) and energizing. But Brookville's best is in the familiar hospitality. It feels like Dei and Liam's mission was taking care of their guest according to the best Irish Style we came acroos through our holyday. We look forward to visiting Ireland again. And, of course, to seeing Brookville Guest House as well. Highly recommended!
Brookville House is somehow far from Dublin's City center, though well served by buses even overnight.
