“Excellent value close to airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2012

Stayed in the metro hotel for one night recently. Nice comfortable hotel , perfect for a short overnight stay when travelling to Dublin airport. It is only 10 minute drive max to the airport and is a perfect location at a much better price than other hotels in the area.

Stayed at the Metro Hotel for a full week. It's a no-frills hotel, comfortable beds, clean rooms and friendly staff.

Rooms are adequate, older TV's with limited channel selection, bathrooms are stocked only with liquid soap (well, aside from towels and toilet paper) so don't forget to bring your own shampoo. Rooms also have safes and free wifi. At a cost of 47 euro per night, you can't go wrong!

Hotel is located in Ballymun, which use to be a rough part of Dublin. We never had any issues during the entire stay.

Restaurant food is good and they serve up a decent pint.

Shuttle takes you to and from airport. Looking for a decent, cheap place to crash? This is it! Looking for a lavish hotel with a pool and spa, look elsewhere...

We stayed for one nights accomodationa dn parking for 14 nights in June.
Firstly the Hotel is not an airport hotel as it is a few mile away. We tried to book the shuttle bus for our time but was told this was full and we could book the next one but this would be cutting the time for our flight a bit tight or the earlier one but we have a 1 yer old and this was going to be too early for him as it would mean getting the bus arouind 4.30 am. So we took a Taxi which the receptionist booked for us.
When we went up the lift to our room there was no cot for our son which we had booked. We said this to the receptionist and they brought one up straight away. We opened it up and saw that there was big hole in the sides of the cot and it smelt a little funny to be honest. The room was fine and big and had everything in it that we needed. The hotel needs a little bit of love and care and a bit of a clean up.
We ate in the restaraunt/bar that night and we ate the burger which was absolutely lovely and big we really enjoyed it. We asked for a baby bowl for our 1 year old of maybe some veg and mash ect. They said no problem. We got a big bowl of lovely mixed veg and some lovely mash and gravy. Way too much for a baby. When we went to pay we were charged for two sides ( 1 was the veg and 1 was for the mash and gravy ) I taught this was not very good as we only asked for a little to feed my son and not two full portions to feed an adult.
Over all the hotel was grand nothing special. I probably wont stay here again but will go closer to the Airport for a little bit more money and for a little bit more comfort.

Room Tip: if your going to the airport stay closer

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback regarding your stay with us here at the Metro Hotel Dublin Airport
May I offer my apologies on the mix up you encountered regarding the shuttle bus availability and also on the absence of the cot which you required, however I am delighted to see that both these matters were rectified with a quick response from our staff and hope this did not cause too much inconvenience to your stay. I am liasing with our accommodation manager as regards to the condition of the cot in which you received apologies once again on this.
We were delighted to see that you enjoyed your meal in our restaurant and I will also speak to our Food & Beverage manager as regards to the cost of the childs portion of food which you received.
Just to clarify that our hotel is an Airport hotel and we are a mere eight minute drive to the airport.
Finally I do hope that these small glitches did not cause you too much inconvenience and was glad to see as said earlier that they were rectified for you
Kind Regards
Maria McDonnell

Our experience here started out stressful because we didnt know that we had to call ahead of time from the airport for the shuttle to come. After that little mishap, we found the hotel staff to be friendly and our room and bathroom were fine. The breakfast was not very good and neither was the coffee. Also, you could hear other people banging around and fighting during the night. However, the staff was helpful in calling a taxi for us at night when we wanted to go into Dublin city and in getting the shuttle to the hotel for our morning connection to the airport. Overall, it was a fine inexpensive option close to the airport if that's what you're looking for.

We stayed here for 1night, as we had an early flight to catch and used the park and ride facility.
The room was fine, modern and clean, but definitely no frills!

The hotel is not situated in a very nice area, so we drove to Howth for an evening meal.

We had to wait for about 40 minutes for the courtesy bus on return from our holiday, despite phoning ahead on landing.

All in all the experience was cheap, but not entirely cheerful!

Room Tip: Choose a room on a high floor to avoid traffic noise.

I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions when flying out of Dublin. I cannot praise it enough. It cannot be beaten on price and value for money. The rooms are clean, comfortable and modern. The small room is ample size for 2. There is a beautiful spacious bar and restaurant with good food at great prices. They also offer a hotel rewards scheme for those visiting regularly where points can be used for stays/dinners. They also give gifts for birthdays and special occasions which is marketing at its finest. Situated close to the airport with a regular shuttle bus, it also offers fly / park offers which makes it a great option for those going on holidays from dublin airport. It would work out almost cheaper to stay a night and park your car there than leave your car in the airport parking. The one and only downfall is the location of the carpark, which is not under the hotel but a 2 min walk away. It is an underground parking and the only entrance is where cars enter and doesnt feel safe when alone.

Room Tip: ask for one not on the road side

We stayed in the Metro Hotel for one night as we had an early flight the following morning.
Reception was busy and staff looked tired & in need of a new image & TLC.
We had booked on line one of the better rooms ? & Non Smoking! as we thought only to find that the room had an ash tray and smelled of smoke!
The timber head board & the picture above had been splashed with drink or worse ? and when we asked for another room there were none ready so we asked for the room to be cleaned .
The receptionist tried to explain to the cleaning staff what was required BUT was unable to have her instruction understood!
We agreed to go to the lounge to wait but changed our minds on viewing its condition! / damaged timberwork and in need of some fresh air etc.
Generally the paintwork in various areas is chipped and scruffy and the timberwork is damaged and badly repaired. Someone needs to review the maintenance of the Hotel and ask themselves if this is an acceptable standard ?
P.S. Dont expect a nice view either and having to have the window open to get some Fresh Air means you will have to suffer the traffic noise & " the Ballymum Boy Racers "
On the plus side / parking is secure & good value. The shuttle bus driver was very nice.
Yes I suppose you get what you pay for But you dont get what it says on the Metro website!
Would we stay again ? No

Room Tip: As high as you can book and make sure it is cleaned !

Dear Guest

Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay with us may I take this opportunity to give some feedback on the comments you made in your review
Firstly as regards to our reception team being in need of some TLC and looking tired may I add that as the hotel on your arrival seemed very busy this may have looked the case on first impression, however may I add that our reception team have been with us here at the hotel for quite a number of years now and have always been known to be very professional and courteous at all time as you may see from other previous guest reviews.
As regards to you being allocated a smoking room may I offer my apologies on this and your points regarding the appearance of the room I will pass over your comments to our Accommodation Manager on this.
May I take this opportunity in also adding that our bar & restaurant area has recently been refurbished and is still in the process of having the last touches being added. Our restaurant celebrated a launch recently which was attended by many important dignitaries and newspapers which was a great sucess and feedback regarding the hotel and it's staff and management were very positive.
On the point of the noise level from outside the hotel I apologise on this also but any one of our reception team would have been only too happy to move you to a quieter side of the hotel if requested.
Finally overall I was happy to see that you were satisfied with our secure parking and our shuttle driver who I will be happy to pass over your comments to
We do hope that overall you were happy with your stay and hope the small matters have now been cleared up and did not cause you too much inconvenience
Kind Regards
Maria McDonnell
