“Convenient location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2009

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Bewley's the entire stay of our trip to Ireland. We decided to stay at the Bewley's because of its rates, and the central location in Dublin County. The hotel is not a walking distance from the Airport, but they do have excellent (free) services to and from. Since we did not rent a car during our stay, we found it very easy for us to jump on the Hotel bus service to the airport, catch a bus there and then head into Dublin City center. The staff at the desk was also always very helpful in calling a cab for us, which we rode to nearby Malahide and then jumped on the DART for easy Dublin County exploration.

The staff friendliness was a big relief, especially since this was our first time traveling without a group. Being on our own was intimidating, but the staff was welcoming and often reccomended places of interest to visit. They were also happy to send us new towels, tea bags and change our money out into smaller notes.

The stay at the Bewley's was less "Irishy" than a normal American would expect at a small B&B, but our activity level and eagerness to stay out late worked well with the hotel's shuttle service and 24/hr staff. We also made sure to load up on our breakfasts at the Bewley's, to avoid buying lunch later in the day while we were busy seeing the local sights.

The hotel does stick out like a sore thumb in its location (there are ponies 100ft away and small houses surround the area), its moderness doesnt fit in very well. Getting to Dublin was easy, but getting elsewhere is a little more tricky, especially without your own car. You should also expect to hear the planes taking off from the airport, as well as other doors opening and closing next door.

I have stayed here many times and once again this hotel has proved itself to be a great place to stay over before an early morning flight. Comfortable beds, good shower, regualar frees shutle bus to and from the airport are all things that bring me back here. Definately my No. I choice if overnighting at Dublin airport.

Nothing particularly wrong with the hotel, other than that they should be done under the trades descriptions act for having the gall to describe themselves as the Bewleys Hotel Dublin Airport. We got a taxi to take us there from Dublin itself and he drove to the airport, only to find that we were in fact some 5km away from the airport itself - the only reason we had chosen to stay there was convenience as we had an early morning flight. I raised this at the reception desk and was greeted with the response: "Can I have your credit card, please, sir".

myself and my boyfriend stayed here for valentines nite. we had previously tried to book other hotels in dublin, but they had all been booked up so we settled for here, as it looked nice enough.

they were doing a deal for €99 including room, 4 course dinner & breakfast. however we booked too late and only got the room for €99 which was a little disappointing.

there were large queues at check in, but they moved quickly, the guy behind the desk wasn't very welcoming or polite, though the phones were ringing non stop and it was very busy, perhaps he was stressed out.

we got a room on the first floor, although neither of us were in need of it, it was a wheelchair accessable room, so therefore had larger doorways than others, and no bath but a large open shower with a seat in it. however there was no shower curtain so water did end up all over the floor and was easily to slip on it. there were two of us, and only 1 large towel, and 3 or 4 small hand towels. not good enough. no toiletries but a soap dispenser beside sink, and in the shower another dispenser which i later found out was some kind of shampoo/shower gel mix.

there was no couch in the room like i had seen in previous photos, but a double bed and a single, along with table, 2 chairs and a desk with desk chair, tea maker, iron, hairdryer, tv etc.

my sister is a wheelchair user and i'm not sure this room would have been up to standard for her needs, the window would have been hard to open, there were no aids for pulling open the curtains like many hotels provide... you know those stick kinda things to draw them back.... there was definitely not enough towels either.

the room was so hot, i tossed and turned all nite, even with the window open i was too warm. also although the doors are soundproof which blocked out the noise from the lobby which was v busy, i could hear people knocking on doors all around and toilets flushing and showers going in neighbouring rooms. tv volume is restricted so u cant have the tv too loud which is good.

we didnt eat in the restaurant as the queues were huge, later met people who had and said it wasn't great. perhaps because it was a valentines special. drinks in bar were expensive. bar food ended early. no waitresses to order drinks from and long queues at the bar. breakfast isn't served late in the mornings either, which was a pity.

overall, this hotel is good for people needing a stopover to dublin airport, with free shuttle buses and a huge screen in the lobby displaying flight info. not much good for much else, its out of the way so you'd have to get taxis to places to eat etc.

  • Liked — rooms were clean, lobby/bar area was nice and comfortable with couches etc, atm in lobby
  • Disliked — no a/c in rooms, not much food options after certain time apart from a vending machine on ground floor only, was in alot of use so almost empty, one out of order, not enough towels!!!

Stayed at this hotel overnight due to an early morning flight from Dublin Airpiort. Room was very clean, comfortable and spacious. Went to restaurant for a meal. waited a long time for starters. Wine arrived 30min late after starters were finished despite having asked for it again eating our starter. It only arrived having requested it from restaurant manager. Main course was fine, meat not cooked as requested. generally very poor table service. observed a number of other tables experiencing the same problems. did not want to wait an hour for dessert so asked for bill. bill included items we had not requested or consumed! retired to bar. every table was full of dirty plates and glasses. it took 20mins for someone to clear our table and at that it wasnt cleared properly.

Overall poor restaurant/bar - a bad experience!

We booked into this hotel at the last moment due to cancellation of flights after a heavy snowfall in Dublin. Every flight had been cancelled and there was a mad scramble for hotels. This hotel could easily have put up the cost but kept them at their advertised rate of €89 per room per night! Well done!
They provide a free shuttle to and from the hotel/airport every 20mins are so(progress can even be seen on the board in reception). On the night in question they put a second bus on the route to cope with the number of people trying to get down to the hotel. On arrival everybody was quickly checked in with a member of staff also working the queue to take dinner reservations. There are almost 450 rooms in this hotel and my understanding from a member of staff is that only 100 wer due to be in use that night! Instead they were booked out. But everything ran smoothly and the full staff really have to be complimented for this!
Dinner was really good and the young girl(Milla I think), serving us was excellent. She really brightened up our evening. We had 3 courses, coffee and a bottle of house red for €90. Excellent value for a hotel.
Rooms were clean, bright and spacious. The only problem I had, which to be honest I have on most hotels, were the pillows. Very uncomfortable.
I have stayed in other Bewleys hotels and have always had excellent service. But due to the nature of the transport problems that day this one gets the gold star for their ability to cope and keep a smile! I didn't hear one cross customer word all evening. Well done Bewleys!

There is no fault to be found with this hotel. Rates are incredibly reasonable, the staff are fantastic. The business services excellent.
My room was spacious, comfortable and well laid out. Shuttle service to the airport very frequent.
