Arrived on a saturday in May last year to spend the last night of our honeymoon in Dublin as Bon Jovi were playing. Got to the place to be told, has someone not phoned you to tell you that we've overbooked and we're moving you? Told them no and asked what was going on. Said they tried phoning me(lies) and that we were being moved to the Tara Towers hotel 3miles further out of Dublin.

Told them that this was not good enough and wanted to speak to the manager. He wouldnt speak to me and said on the phone to the receptionist that we should make our own way to the new hotel. They tried to tell me that they were upgrading us as it was a three star hotel? Absolute nonsense.

The reason I booked this place was due to its location. We would be able to walk to Grafton St/Stephens Green. The Tara Towers was going to involve a 10/15euro taxi ride to and from every time.

With nothing else to do but accept being moved I insisted on them paying our taxi fare to the new hotel. This the manager did begrudgingly. We ended up paying approximately 50euro extra in taxis out and back to the Tara Towers and it was not how I wanted our honeymoon to end.

If they had been more apologetic in the first place I would have been happier but it was nothing of the sort. Never will go back near the place after being treated so disgracefully.

Maybe things started wrong from the start because the guesthouse had emailed us directions using the Aircoach (about 50 minutes from airport), and told us to get off at the Burlington Hotel stop - which turned out to be about 3-4 blocks away. As we discovered, there is a stop right in front of the guesthouse.

Stay away from the rooms in the secondary building! It's right at the Leeson Street intersection, and was extremely noisy and warm. Our bathroom was the smallest we've ever been in - the toilet was in the shower, so we had to take the toilet paper out to make sure it didn't get soaked while the shower spray soaked the entire toilet (wish we had taken a picture so you can see!).

We moved rooms for the next night, and the room was better - but was still too warm (about 82F) and noisy. The bathroom was nicer with a real shower/tub!

The street is near a nightclub, so on Saturday night we were awakened at 2AM with all the drunks making noise. The street is too noisy to keep your windows open.

The breakfast had a good selection, but not an Irish breakfast. Seating was limited, so one morning we had to wait about 10 minutes to eat.

Pros
* About a 10 minute walk to St. Stephens Green, 15 minutes to Grafton Street
* Good breakfast
* Good chocolates left on bed each day
* Some restaurants and convenience store nearby.

Cons
* Cannot adjust the heat, rooms got extremely warm.
* No sheets, just a comforter.
* Street corner location is too noisy to get good night's sleep
* Stay away from the secondary building rooms! They are too small, noisy and hot.

The bottom line was that even after switching rooms, we were disappointed. Since we paid for the full stay upon arrival, we didn't have the opportunity to switch hotels.

  • Liked — Proximity to St Stephens Green and Grafton Street
  • Disliked — Too much noise from street and rooms too hot

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Leeson Bridge Guest House on a weekend break to Dublin. Apart form the Aircoach from the airport (which stops about 10 metres from the hotel) we didn't use public transport or taxis at any time - which was absolutely brilliant!

Nice choccies on the bed, everything clean and fresh - not super luxury but definitely nice enough. We had an Executive Room, which had a sauna, and a jacuzzi (which was actually just a bath with jets), and it was very nice... we even had a single bed in our room as well as the king.

Breakfasts were great - nice selection of croissants, cereals, cheeses, cold meats, fruit, juices, etc... but no hot Irish breakfast, which was what we were expecting.

Overall - I think this is a great place to stay while visiting Dublin, very reasonable for what it is, I would definitely recommend to others and go back myself!

The website of this Guesthouse looks fabulous, and i'm sure that it is representative of some of the the rooms; but not room 107!

Room 107 is in the basement of the building (below ground level) and has no natural daylight. It has a very small window that opens on to the inside of the curb above. As a result the room is baking hot even without the radiators on and has no fresh air. The room is very small almost fully taken up with a small double bed. All this makes it feel more like a prison cell rather than a relaxing haven. Also the room is next to the breakfast room, toilets and staff room. This all adds to what was a very noisy and sleepless night!

The room does have a jacuzzi and sauna though.

The guest house is clean, as are the rooms. We asked to be
moved after the first night and room 118 was on the first floor and much better.

The location was very good, a 5-10 min walk to both St Stephen's Green and Grafton Street where there were some good pubs and restaurants.

So overall I would say a good simple and clean guesthouse, in a good location - just avoid room 107 at all costs!!

Stayed 2 nites in sept with my wife. Caught bus from Dublin airport to the front door of this hotel (bus goes thru city centre first then on to Lesson St - get off at the far end just after you pass over the small bridge - ask the driver for help if your not sure)
Check in very easy (booked direct with hotel via internet) , Room was clean , reasonable size and the welcoming chocolates on the bedside were most appreciated. Very easy 5 to 10 minute walk to city centre (cut thru St Stephens Green park for a plesant walk) Good breakfast and front desk staff very helpful. Great value hotel for the location.
