“Had a Great Hen Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2007

This was a lovely hotel
My 3 friends and I stayed here for my hen party weekend on the 28/04/2007. Rooms were spacious and clean with all facilities .Staff were friendly and even let us check in early as we had an early flight. The hotel is situated about 15 mins walk from the town centre. Although we found the walk no problem we did return from our night out via taxi which cost us about 10 euros. Did use a bus to get from airport which I wouldn’t recommend as they changed drivers halfway into the journey and the new driver completely forgot to tell us when our stop was! This led to us vacating the bus and catching a taxi to the hotel .Didn‘t use the buses after this as it kind of put us off. Taxi to the airport from the hotel was 33 Euros.
All in all had a great weekend recommend the Arlington bar right in the heart of the town for a great night out, typically Irish fare and show with Irish music and dancers. Will definitely return

I stayed here for two nights during a recent tour. Overall I enjoyed the hotel. The front desk staff was excellent and helped me quite a bit. Everything was very clean and new but as the previous person mentioned it was a little stuffy in the room. The location is about a 5-10 minute walk to Georgian Dublin and about 10-15 minutes from the city centre (near Trinity College). We did not use public transport but I believe it is possible to use a bus to get to the centre. Because it was away from the centre it was very quiet at night even with the window wide opened. The area seemed safe and the breakfast was decent. There is a bar attached to the hotel but I did not get a chance to check it out. Overall, it was nice, and I would consider returning.

We arrived in Dublin and stayed at the Grand Canal Hotel for two nights. We were part of the CIE Tours of Ireland. The rooms were quite coz and the people were extremly friendly. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in Dublin. The hotel is within walking distance to great little shops and pubs.

Overall the hotel was fine - good sized room, clean with useful amenities, fine breakfast, pleasant people at the desk BUT it was miserably hot. Slept nude with no covers and window open but still hot.. Not only was our room hot but the hallways too.

  • Liked — quiet room
  • Disliked — uncontrolable heat

The hotel was exactly what I wanted. Newly renovated, the Grand Canal was superbly clean with every accomodation you need. As an american business man who frequently travels I am accustom numerous luxuries...all of which were met at the GCH. The GCH's staff was extremely helpful and very friendly. Within two days of our seven day stay the staff knew our names and were welcoming us like we were walking into our own home. If and when I return to Dublin, I will be choosing this hotel again and will recommend it any family and friends.
