“Almost as good as The Boss.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2009

Just back from an overnight stay at the Grand Canal Hotel. We choose this hotel as it was close to the RDS where we were saw the fantastic Bruce Springsteen gig. And... because it was good value and offered free parking.

I was very impressed by the security in the hotel, you cannot access the bedroom floors without inserting your room key card into a slot in the lift. And the night receptionist also checked our room key when we returned to the hotel at night. It's reassuring to come across a hotel that takes guest's security seriously.

Our room was on the small side, but had all the necessaries. And a first that I've come across- free Wi-Fi!!! . The room was absolutely spotless - even under the bed - I dropped an earring and had to pull the bed out to retrieve it - and noticed that the floor under the bed was just as clean as the rest of the bedroom floor. Well done to the house keeping staff.

It's a pity there is no fridge in the room - it would have been nice to have somewhere to keep drinks cool, as it was even the UHT milk had gone off with the heat. But that's just a small complaint.

I would definitely recommend this hotel, good location, about 20 mins walk to city centre, parking if needed, friendly staff, spotlessly clean and good value! Ticks all the boxes....

My husband and i alongwith 2 friends attended The Eagles concert in R.D.S July 1st.We stayed overnight in The Grand Canal Hotel and were thrilled --super hotel, very friendly and efficient staff, amazing breakfast and the secure car parking facilities all added up to a great experience. The location of the hotel itself, within walking distance of the lovely Bsllsbridge area/Merrion Square is also a huge plus.We will definitely be staying at this hotel again. We also loved the fact that we got a lovely quiet room at the back of the hotel.

This hotel was attractive, clean, elegant and full of helpful and friendly staff. We bought three nights for the price of two (available online) for a first-time trip to Dublin and can honestly say that for the price we paid we could not have asked for anything better. Superb value and at a pleasant 15 minute walk from the city centre it is set back from the noise and hustle in a more tranquill setting.

The hotel is about a 30minute aircoach journey (14 euro return) from the airport, which has regular 24-hour buses operating to and from nearby stops. We also ate in the Gasworks bar and restaurant that is part of the hotel. Good quality pub-food and drinks at an equally good price.

I would definatly stay at The Grand Canal again if I were to return to Dublin.

We had a terrific stay at the Grand Canal. First of all, I had stupidly messed up our reservations but the assistant manager went out of her way to straighten everything out for us.
To me, the rooms are gorgeous - simply but attractively decorated with bright colors and lots of natural wood. Everything was sparkling clean. Rooms are spacious as are the bathrooms. Tea with milk and sugar in rooms was a nice touch.
It was a fine location for us. After the hustle and bustle of City Centre, it was nice to have a 20 minute walk to the hotel located in a quieter area. It is a block away from the DART station.
There is a grocery store about a block away and, as restaurants are so expensive in Ireland, we would buy bread, cheese, butter, jam, etc. and picnic in Merrion Square or the like.
Everyone at front desk was always very friendly and helpful
Compared to the price of other hotels in Dublin and considering how nice the hotel is, it is a great value. We had a 3 nights for the price of 2 deal which was available on their website.
The food in restaurant was about as good as any other we had in Ireland and was more reasonably priced.
The only negative was that there was a bit of noise from traffic in front of hotel so if this would be an issue to you, I suggest you ask for room in back.
All 5 of us, including our three teenagers, loved this hotel. I can't wait to go back.

Fabulous hotel i couldnt find fault with it at all. We stayed in April when we went to the Pink Concert. I had never drove in Dublin city center before, so was unsure about where i was going. We got lost so we called the hotel to help us out. When icalled we were chatting to a guy called Alvin. He directed us over the phone to the Hotel from the Guiness factory. We arrived at the hotel and Alvin checked us in and i had asked him if we could have a taxi to take us to the O2 arena. At 7.15PM when i went downstairs there was a taxi sitting waiting on us. The rooms were fabulous very spacious, In My opinion this hotel should have more than 3 stars. The staff are so helpful. the rooms are excellent. By far the best hotel i have ever stayed in for service. I have never recevied Service like this in a hotel before. In my opinion the staff in the Grand Canal Hotel really do go above and beyond to help their clients. Will definitely be back.

Friendly ,helpful, clean. The restuarant food is great ,as is the breakfast.
I liked this hotel as it was away from all the noise of the city. The walk is not so bad.
Or you can just get a taxi for 8eu to the city. The Irish taxi drivers are very friendly and informative, make sure they are Irish though! The new immigrant taxi drivers dont seem to have the knowledge or at times even know where they are going!! Ask for an Irishman!!!
