just spent a great nights entertainment at the grand canal hotel in dublin 26/10/13 they do an
excellent value for money package deal room evening meal breakfast admission to
shelbourne greyhound stadium a drinks and free bet voucher and entertainment back at the gasworks bar after.As for the hotel i can not recommend it enough the staff are so polite mannerly and helpful grade 1 professionals from the moment you walk into the lobby through to the bar/ restaurant to the housekeeping staff.If your looking to stay in dublin you have got to give this hotel a try i will be returning for sure

It must be difficult getting staff at this hotel. On checkin (5 of us) they seemed incapable of understanding that we had booked three separate rooms. Additionally , they seem incapable of organising double rooms ( as per booking request) - 2:20pm and still no room available , the excuse was they had a lot of people checking out duh!

Thank you for your comments. While I understand that your colleagues received their rooms prior to 2 pm, I am sorry that you were delayed in gaining access to yours. The website used and room rate booked does not guarantee a room type and while there were rooms available I appreciate they were not the type you wished for. The member on staff was trying to accommodate your request which caused the delay. To guarantee a room type online be sure to check our own website.

This hotel is not so close to the center of Dublin that it's expensive. But not so far that it's a chore to get around. If you don't mind walking, you can very easily get to the center of Dublin. Otherwise, the front staff can direct you to the nearest bus or taxi. Staff is so friendly and helpful! The pub is laid back and has delicious food. The rooms were top notch....comfortable, clean, and quiet. Best hotel I have stayed at in a long time and would definitely stay here again!!

(I went with a group. We were able to get two rooms with a total a five beds. No roll aways or pull outs needed. There are lots of tables and comfy chairs in the lobby. I found that this was the perfect place to have private conversations if you need to get away from a group.)

I've stayed here many times and it seems to be getting worse, not better. For one thing it's now much harder to get to the hotel from the airport. There was an AirBus route that stopped a block away but that route was discontinued. The hotel has contracted with another bus company that picks up at the hotel and goes to the airport - a good thing to provide - but it only runs every 2 hours which is inconvenient if it doesn't align with your schedule. Also, the menu has been pared down to fairly basic pub food - ok, not great.

However the staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are good size.

The room I'm in this visit (211) is facing the road and above the bar so it's noisy from two sources. Last night the bar was noisy with loud music and talking until the wee hours of the morning. This room also has a bright light right outside the window that lights up the front of the hotel and also the room. Very annoying. Avoid the rooms in this wing.

I'll continue to stay here because of the convenience of the location but I'm not able to recommend it highly anymore.

Room Tip: Ask for the back of the hotel away from road noise. Also go above the 2nd floor so you don't get...

Thank you for taking the time to post you comments. I have some good news in relation to the Aircoach bus service. We have been advised it is going to be reinstated from next week. As soon as we have an official timetable I will send it on to you.
The noise from the bar I do apologise for and will certainly discuss it with the Bar team. The light outside of the window has been re-angled for any future guests. We consistently review the menus and will be updating it again shortly.

Very clean, good sized rooms, nice, friendly staff. Overall, this is a very good hotel. The only downside was that breakfast was included in the price of the room, but did not start until 7 am. We had to meet our tour bus at 6:30 every morning so we were not able to take advantage of this feature.

I have stayed here loads of times and have never had a bad experience. Rooms are very comfy. Free wifi is good. Adjacent bar very good good. Breakfasts are wonderful. Highly recommended and good value to.

this was the last stop & hotel on our tour of Ireland. It was an arranged package. the hotel was clean, room was nice and the staff was very helpful. The only glitch along the way was the room heater, it only operates from 5-8am and 5-8pm. The room was cold because the windows were left open when we arrived and the heater itself did not turn on. A call downstairs brought up a portable heater. The person looked at the non working unit and said it is now fixed and should work between the given hours. The portable worked great but alas the 'real' heater still does not work.

Room Tip: make sure the heater works or ask for a portable heater. Obviously many people have this problem bec...
