We live in Australia and visit Ireland once a year. We vary between staying with family (good for seeing people but bad for comfort and flexibility) and staying in hotels (but my husband prefers to cook).
We chose to stay in Donnybrook manor for a week in September when we came home to get married, and we'll definitely be staying there from now on.
Naomi is very personable, and great for emailing in advance; we arrived outside of business hours, but there was no problem, the key was there, and a few emergency food supplies.
The apartment was very warm, clean and comfortable. My husband was very happy with the kitchen, and as it had a cafetiere, I was able to make my own coffee.
My husband, who is not Irish, really loved the area, he became addicted to a couple of the little food stores on the main street. There is a Tesco express 3 minutes walk from the door.
We walked everywhere we needed to go, it's only 25 minutes to Stephens Green. There was a bus stop 5 minutes from the door as well.
We felt like we were able to settle into the apartment over the week, it flet much more homely than a hotel, my family and friends were able to call over. The area was very quiet.
