Description: Description: The Hungry Mexican Restaurant is Dublins' best Mexican eatery located within Bodkins Bar on Bolton Street. The style of food is perfect for Bodkins as it is great with a couple of beers, wine or one of Bodkins exciting cocktails. Litres of Margarita are a firm favourite. We always offer great value and generous portions. If you want a great value you should try our early bird menu between weekdays. We give a 20% discount on food and offer a selection of €5 cocktails as well as other drink specials. Highlights from the menu include Chicken Wings coated in our delicious homemade spicy Tequila marinade, Rockling Fish Ceviche, Chicken Mole and melt in your mouth Smoky Pork ribs. As well as all the classics: Giant Burritos, Chimichangas and Enchiladas filled with either Pulled Pork & Chorizo, Slow Cooked Chicken, Chilli Soya Mince (v) or Shredded Beef. All of our salsas are made from scratch, including Pico de Gallo, Smoky Chipotle, Spicy Pineapple, Habanero for the brave and Chilli Tamarina for the crazy. Add this to a full range of Tequila, cocktails, beers & wines, and the ingredients for a great night out are all in place. The Hungry Mexican is a cool place to eat, mixing the vibrant air of a Mexico City salon with the welcoming vibe of a Dublin pub.

The nachos are really awesome, yum !
Try the chimichanga for two, it's great value for money.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the music and overall the place is really nice place for dates or night out with friends.

“HUGE disappointment!! Avoid.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2014

Was really really looking forward to this meal having read some of the reviews but having ate there I wonder how it has got any good reviews at all.

The nachos were tasteless and dry which made them difficult to eat.I have definitely made tastier nachos at home. We both ordered the burrito which sounded great on the menu but tasted atrociousness. The chicken in the burrito was grey, stringy and sort of dissolved in your mouth in a way chicken is not supposed to. It completely turned my stomach and I couldn't eat it, it looked like food poisoning on a plate. It was the cheapest worst cooked chicken I have ever been served. Even looking at it made me feel quite ill.

On the way out we got a look into the kitchen which didn't look clean or organised in anyway. The whole meal was a huge disappointment. One only plus was the margaritas which were made in the bar attached to it.

Beautiful food. The pork an chorizo quesadilla with green chilli is my favourite so far. Very friendly staff and great atmosphere. Also the Margarita's are awesome!

“Best Mexican around”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

Dublin not exactly being renowned for its Mexican cuisine, it was great to find this place. Tucked at the back of Bodkins Pub. Good food and great selection. Especially recommend any one of it's Margarita choices to accompany some fajitas. For great value, the chimichanga for two is a guaranteed dinner and lunch the next day.

Food is great and the service has always been fantastic every time we have been in. I am always amazed when a waitress remembers what I ordered last time.

Have been a few times already and will definitely be returning.

“Mmm Fiesta!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

I have been visiting The Hungry Mexican since it opened and it has never disappointed. From a vegetarian perspective it has a lot to offer, the soya mince option means that practically everything on the menu is adaptable for vegetarians. I love spicy food and have been disappointed with other Mexican restaurants in Dublin that have advertised themselves as super-spicy but have actually been quite mild, that's definitely not the case here!

It is also worth mentioning the staff who have always been welcoming and very helpful. If you want good quality food that's clearly made with care for ridiculously good value The Hungry Mexican is well worth a visit!
