“Nice modern hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

I had visited this hotel once and saw some lovely rooms, very modern and new, and it is quite difficult to find such a modern hotel in Dublin, so as a birthday treat I booked it for that night and looked forward to a modern room, balcony and up to date TV to chill out. However it was clear that while the hotel is a four star and earns that well, that it does also have rooms that are only 3 star rather and that's what we got. The TV was from the 1980s, so what happened to the flat screen TV? It was very strange to see such an object in such a modern hotel! As we were there just to chill out and relax then the TV was quite important. There was no balcony either. Pillows were hard. The hairdryer was attached to a drawer in the room and I had to move the kettle to a socket next to the TV as there didn't appear to be one in its regular place. Additionally there was apparently free wifi but when I tried to log on I was asked for a password and there was no information in the room what the password was, nor was it on the key card....
The hotel is bit of a walk out of the main centre (O'Connell St) but very easy to find and nice walk along the river. Lovely reception area and dining area. Evening dinner was enjoyable and quite good value and the staff in the restaurant were friendly. I booked a room at 158 euro including breakfast - a very competitive price for 3/4 star in Dublin. Additionally it is great to find a hotel that has smoking rooms! Overall, it would better if all the rooms had the same facilities to avoid such disappointments. I'd still say go ahead and book it considering the lack of competition, but double check everything that is important to you in advance.

Stayed here two nights as it was booked by the tour company. The rooms were on the large size for Europe but not well designed. The beds were fine although they use the duvet and skip the top sheet which may be great if you could adjust the temperature to agree with the bedding.
The restaurant was fine but heads up on the coffee, make sure they do not dilute it additionally with hot water. The bar and sandwich shop saves this hotel from total forgetfulness.

Keep in mind if you have a problem make sure to speak with the tall gentleman to take care of it, as the dark haired girl that works late afternoons seems only to be able to give a deer in the headlights look.

This hotel appears to be cheaply done and slapped together like a bad mobile home. Their customer service depends on the luck of the draw. It may be located in town but it is not close to anything of significance, the Hop on Hop off buses don't even come close. On the up side some of the nicest people meet in Ireland were their taxi drivers.

All in all there are many hotels that can achieve this level of mediocrity.

Lovely, friendly hotel, attentive service, clean and modern rooms, good sized bathroom, convenient vending machines in the hallway if you don't want to bother going downstairs to the bar. Food good with a decent choice for fussy kids. Delicious self service breakfast. Couldn't be closer to the Grand Canal Theatre, Dublin. Wifi in rooms but don't log on to internet via the tv as this incurs a charge! We had a lovely stay and would definitely return.

Room Tip: Family rooms have no view but are very quiet.

I stayed here for 4 nights, two as a tourist, and two with a tour group. The hotel was well laid out, had good dinner meals, and the rooms were very nice. The hotel is about 10 blocks from the center of Trinity college, Grafton street, and across the river bridge from major shopping. My only complaint was that the excellent wait staff in the restaurant were not assigned to specific tables, thus requiring the frequent flagging down of the nearest waitress for water, for wine refills, for ketchup, and for the check. The service was worse when I was with the tour group, but it was not the fault of the staff as much as how they were organized and managed. The restaurant hostess at the front was often gone from her post, making getting a seat awkward when tour groups were being seated. Overall, however, a good experience, and I would stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the front of the hotel have a small baloney.

Stayed for two nights excellent service from the staff, restaurant was superb and the food was excellent.
The room was clean and comfortable and well equipted.
BiT of a walk into Dublin town but there are buses - we didn't use them. Close to the bus stop to get too and from airport. The docks just around the corner are pleasant but not much choice of eateries.

Room Tip: We were at the back of the hotel very quiet.

We booked with hotels.com and when we arrived, there was no reservation. We had booked with hotels.com a number of times in the past and had never had a problem. Regardless of the lack of reservation, thd hotel manager couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant. He did explain that every once in a while, the bookings via another site go awry but hastened to explain that it would not be a problem. We had just finished a trans-atlantic flight and were attempting a morning check in. Complimentary coffee and a fairly short wait while a room was prepared. The room was nicely decorated, very clean and the beds were quite comfortable. We would stay again.

Room Tip: The hotel is adjacent to a pub. Our room faced the interior courtyard and voices travelled easily w...
