“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2009

My boyfriend and I stayed at this great hotel last week as our flight from Dublin airport was very early on saturday morning. Check in staff are fast and efficient, very nice decor and stunning bedrooms. The mattresses are very comfortable, the bathroom spotless, there are tea-making facilities, a hair-dryer, in-room dining and enough pillows to help you have a good nights sleep. There are smoking rooms available if you require them which is very helpful if you are a smoker. The area is very safe, very quiet with double glazing windows. An excellent nights sleep was had by all. The only downside to this hotel was the food staff in the restaurant. There where wires crossed when it came to the food. I ordered a cheese panini and my boyfriend ordered chips etc. I recieved my order within half and hour and automatically we assumed by boyfriend would get his. The clock ticked by for over 45 mins until we could wait no longer, then we had to mention to the staff. There were no apologises issued. Another man at the opposite table experience the same problem and his request was that of an ice-cream. Be very vigiliant when it comes to ordering as they are quite forgetful. The restaurants food was lovely, don't get me wrong it was just the service. The hotel is situated 10-15 mins from the airport, a free shuttle bus runs daily when you request it. Its free of charge which is a bonus. Will definitely be back.......

The first thing to say about the hotel is that whilst it is listed as an airport hotel; it is actually about a 10-15 minute ride from the airport. Now this should not put you off completely from booking but you should know this. They do have a van which takes travellers to and from the airport (when you arrive, on the arrivals floor in Dublin airport, look for the courtesy phone which is on the opposite side of the hall from airport information). When you call them and let them know you are there, they telephone the driver, then just exit the airport, walk across the street and through the parking garage, which also has the left luggage area, out the other side and just walk straight. You will have to cross another road but you will see the vans ahead to your left hand side. In the morning, if you have a morning flight esp if early, note that they have a schedule. They leave about every 30 minutes. If you don't liek the scheduled leaving time and you opt to have a taxi take you, factor in another €10-€15 Euro to get to the airport.

The hotel itself is fairly new so not worn. The rooms are nice, much what you would expect from a newer build hilton. I would request a back room (away from the main road) if you are a light sleeper as it was a bit noisy but I am a very light sleeper.

The plus for staying here is to earn Honors Points if you are a member, it is a decent hotel with a decent bar and good rooms (although Hilton still charges for wireless!) and you can often find a very good rate on the website. But again, do note that this is an airport hotel in the broadest sense of the word. You are fairly near a small village so you could go there if you have time but you are too far to pop in to Dublin City Centre unless you have a good amount of time to spend. Cab ride there will be about €28 or so.

Stay at this Hilton property twice in two different occasions during the first week in November. Very pleasant day front desk staff, upgraded us to a better room with a welcoming gift of wine, fruits and chocolates. They also offered to keep some luggage until our return later on during the week. Tried the restaurant and found the food identical to what they offer at the bar/bistro but for twice as much money. The service was excellent though. Since our flight was leaving very early in the morning, left a wake-up call, which never came. Apparently, there was a function going on at the hotel all night and the night staff forgot to wake us up at all. Maybe they were also partying? Anyway, they didn't even apologize for it. The shuttle driver managed to get us on time to the airport at incredible speeds. That was appreciated. The second time the nice day front desk people had heard about the incident and were most apologetic. They offered to give us room service breakfast the following morning (which was very good, by the way) as the restaurant and bistro had no food left for the night. It was late evening when we checked-in. Starving, room service staff managed to get us some delicious french bread and butter (no charge since they felt very bad that they didn't any other food left), which went very well with the wine provided by the reception staff. Of course, the following morning got two consecutive wake-up calls to make sure that we were up. One convenience that we enjoyed was being able to charge in US dollars, avoiding the conversion fee that most credit cards charge their customers. It is a nice hotel, as airport hotels go, perhaps better than most. Will definetely stay here if in the area again.

Booked for the night before our early flight the next morning and also for the use of the car park whilst we were away. Check in was swift and efficient, the girl told us to drive our car into the underground park which we did and simply got the lift back into the hotel again. The room was faultless with lovely kingsize bed and fresh white duvet and pillows. 4 complimentary bottles of mineral water awaited us. The mini bar was well stocked and everything in the room was in working order. We had a meal in the bistro which we cannot fault and the staff there and at the bar were also fantastic. The bistro/bar has been renovated and is lovely with big open fire. The mini bus to and from the airport was on time and the journey takes around ten minutes. Would definitely stay here again, it's worth the money !

This would be my hotel of choice for the night before an early flight from Dublin. We've stayed in most of them and this is the one we prefer to use now.
If you do their park and fly rate it works out well considering the cost of airport parking and the Hiltons underground carpark is secure.Their shuttle to the airport is prompt in both directions.
They take a back route to and from the airport with a journey time of about 15 minutes,it avoids most of the early morning traffic which is another plus.
Regarding the stay-this place is modern .The rooms are clean and they don't have that dull over used feel. There's not a spec of dust to be seen. It's a very well kept hotel.
If I was to have a niggle,It would be about their restaurant.Go elsewhere for your evening dinner as it's bland in my opinion and very slow.

  • Liked — The parking and the swift shuttle to the airport.
  • Disliked — The slow restaurant service.

I chose to use the Hilton Dublin Airport Hotel a second time because I was pleased with the experience. I would return again.
The staff were obliging and the rooms were clean and fresh. Unfortunately, their restaurant was closed for refurbishment but the meal that we had there on a previous visit was well above average.
I find the secure underground parking facility and the shuttle bus to and from Dublin Airport particularly convenient.
As airport hotels go, this one is good.

We arrived in Dublin late in the evening and decided to stay at the Hilton Dublin Airport for the night mainly due to the ease of the shuttle service that we'd read about. We headed to the allocated area where we were to meet the shuttle and waited... and waited.... and waited. After almost 30 minutes, we saw the Hilton shuttle enter the car park area - then nothing. We expected to board the bus shortly after we saw it, but it simply disappeared. We waited another couple of minutes then walked around to see where he was parked, and found that while we were waiting outside in the cold at 9.30pm, he was merely sitting in another area of the parking lot so he could talk on his mobile phone. We told him that we were waiting at the bus stop, and had been for quite some time, and were told that he or another driver would be there shortly. It wasn't for another 25 minutes that we actually left the parking lot, and the only reason for that was because another 2 travellers arrived from another flight and walked directly to him with all of their baggage. When we questioned him as to why we had to wait so long, he mumbled something under his breath without even attempting to apologise. So much for the "Irish hospitality" that everyone raves about......

After this annoying introduction to Ireland, we arrived at the Hilton and found the hotel to be quite nice. The room was quite large, with nice amenities and a clean bathroom, which is always a bonus. We ate in the restaurant, which was open surprisingly late. The food was very nice, with reasonable prices and friendly staff that more than made up for their below average shuttle driver. We checked out the following morning and collected a hire car for our self drive tour. As we arrived late in the evening, we didn't really notice anything in the surrounding area, but were pleased to find a 24 hour supermarket on the corner diagonally opposite, which was great to stock up on supplies for our drive.

Overall, this hotel was nice and provided us with a comfortable (yet brief) stay. I would recommend this hotel, but forewarn others to keep their eye out for the shuttle in the car park to make sure you're not left out in the cold for too long.

  • Liked — Size and cleanliness of the room
  • Disliked — Poor service re the shuttle bus from the airport
