“We stayed again, enjoyed it very much, solid 4 star hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

Before our flight to Brussels we stayed at the Hilton Dublin Airport.

This one is just a short review about the changes since our last stay. You can always check out an extensive review I wrote last year.

We took the shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel. Unfortunately the journey was not as pleasant as usual, because there was a rowdy group of Finns on board, who drank alcohol and were very loud. The driver reminded them that alcohol consumption on the shuttle was not allowed.

It helped for a bit, but then the bottle made the round again.

We were glad when we arrived at the Hilton. While the shuttle bus to the hotel is free, from the hotel to the airport costs however 2 Euros per person, be aware of this and must be booked at check-in for your departure.

Check in was pleasant and quick. As returning guests we were warmly welcomed and explained what was new.
Our room was located on the 4th floor and overlooking the opposite apartment complex.

All rooms are refreshed now and have the Serenity bed, which is a Hilton standard.

Our amenity as gold members of the Hilton Honors program had changed to the better. There were two Doorman jars, one with gummi sweets and the other with salted nuts as well as two bottles of water.

We also received a free drinks voucher for two.

Major changes had taken place at the Burnell's Bar & Restaurant. Instead of serving two menus, there is only one, and guests can choose their own seating without waiting for a waiter at the restaurant.

The menu has changed for the better too. There are more healthy options. We had for example a melon medley with Greek yogurt, which was light, refreshing and delicious as a starter. Our main courses were pasta in spicy tomato sauce and vegetables and Pasta with chicken and pesto. My pasta was overcooked, but the sauce had a nice kick and the vegetables were plentiful. Each dish was tasty. We also used our voucher. It was a choice between beer and wine, would be nice when at least Baileys would be included, so there is room to expand this offer. We chose two glasses of red wine and a large bottle of water.

The staff was busy, but very friendly and efficient.

Overall the Hilton Dublin Airport has much improved and is now a solid 4 star. We are going to return soon, when we have an early flight again and are looking forward to our stay.

Would we recommend this hotel to a friend? YES!
Would we stay again at this hotel? YES!

Room Tip: Front rooms on the high floor have views over the Irish sea in the distance, corner rooms are larger...

Dear Flyer007Dublin,

Thank you kindly for taking the time to write such a glorious and detailed review on us.

I am absolutely delighted to hear that you noticed the changes we applied here at the Hilton Dublin Airport and they are all to your liking. We have indeed new Hilton Honours amenities as well as brand new Burnells menu in place and we worked hard to improve our services in the Hotel.

I hope overall you enjoyed your stay with us and we cannot wait to having you back very soon. Thanks for your loyalty, it is highly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Eva Szakacs

If you are staying at this hotel because you believe it is actually at the Dublin Airport, please be advised that it is 8 miles away. There is a shuttle bus which runs regularly (15-20 minutes)unless you arrive late (after 9 pm) when the shuttle runs every 45 minutes. It is mighty cold if you just missed the shuttle. Assuming you find the shuttle stop at all as there are no posted signs in the terminal. We asked several folks before we finally found the shuttle stop - a long walk from either terminal at the Dublin Airport. We took a taxi to the hotel rather than wait in the cold for the next shuttle. Got a very angry driver who was upset that we gave him a short fare (18 pounds + 2 pound tip!) and lost him his place in the taxi queue. Much simpler (and very little more money) to take a taxi directly into Dublin.

Room Tip: Stay in downtown Dublin.

Dear Itinerant 2013,

Thank you for your review.

Please be advised that we are located 7 kilometres from the airport. Unfortunately we are not allowed to post any signage at the Terminal as per DAA restrictions and I am really sorry if you had difficulty in finding our pickup zone. Please be informed that directions to the pickup zone as well as the timetable are up on the website.

With regards to the taxi I am really sorry you picked an angry driver, usually Dublin taxi drivers are extremely friendly and welcoming. The average fare is between €16-20 and tip is not expected as it is included in their price.

I hope you had an enjoyable stay with us and hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back for another stay.

Kind regards,

Eva Szakacs

Good night's sleep before our flight. They gave us a wonderful breakfast and a ride to the airport at 2 euros per person. Early check-in was included also. Though I wondered when they told me that they make the best Long Island Ice Tea in Dublin--esp coming from Long Island.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed good.

I use this hotel often when i need to fly early morning out of Ireland. They often have a 62EUR / night deal w/o breakfast. There is underground garage that is not included. The airport is not that close, by car it is a 15 min drive. Not sure if they have free shuttle bus. Service is good, they were helpful when i had special requests. I rate it 4 because of the price-value they offer. I am not a breakfast guy anyways.

We stayed here on our last night before heading back to the US. It was a very nice hotel. The room we stayed in was very large with a nice sitting area that looked out to the Irish Sea. It was quite a ways off still but we could see it. The hotel is right next to the buses that can take you into downtown Dublin.

We ordered room service the night we were there to get some late night dessert. We had this chocolate brownie which was warm and delicious. It is really easy to get to the airport from the hotel as well. There is also a large shopping center across the street.

Dear MO151982,

Thank you kindly for your review.

I hope you enjoyed your stay with us before your flight to US. The chocolate brownie was indeed a very good idea to cheer your evening up, it is one of the most popular desserts we have on the menu.

I hope you had a safe journey home and we are looking forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

I stayed here recently after a long haul flight. Had a bit of a wait for the shuttle bus but when it did arrive the driver was very friendly and I was at the hotel in about ten minutes.

The checkin process was relatively smooth.

The service in the bar area was slow and it took several attempts to get the waiters attention and several more to actually receive our order.

The rooms were very clean and modern. The bed was comfortable. The shower however was rubbish. Very hard to get a constant temperature and the pressure was bad.

For the price of the hotel though, I got what I expected.

This hotel has the most wonderful staff ever, each one is beyond helpful. They create the most lovely atmosphere, so friendly and caring. From the lady in reservations, shuttle bus drivers, reception staff, bar staff & restaurant staff, even the housekeeping staff, we could find no fault in any of them. Not once did we feel we were just another guest. The room was spotless, the food great, and overall stay just perfect.. Free music in the hotel bar on Friday and Saturday is an added bonus. Yummy breakfast .

If you want to be right on the airport then this hotel is not for you, but it only takes 10 minutes to get here, and there is no noise from the planes. Well worth the 10 minutes drive. The journey from the Airport to the hotel on the shuttle is free but the return is 2 euro, Nearly all the airport hotels charge now, against 20 euro for a taxi, 2 euro is nothing.

Would we go back, you bet. Can't wait.
