I regularly visit this art gallery, depending on the rotating exhibitions it stages. It is located in Dublin city centre, a short walk from St Stephens Green. It is a lovely space that re-opened after modernisation in recent years. Entrance is normally free and the works are usually available for purchase.
The RHA Annual Exhibition is one of Ireland’s most important artistic events. Currently the 2012 one is taking place and will be available till the 18th August. I recently visited it and was very impressed with the variety and quality of exhibits. This year is one of the largest with various art forms including paintings, sculpture, photography and architectural models.
Many artists are featured, both well known and relatively unknown, across a broad range of genres -realism, landscape, portrait and self-portrait and still-life.
If you would like to spend an hour or so in a pleasant gallery, I recommend a visit to the Academy.
