“Good value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

Paid €200 for two nights, shared with a friend. I had to arrive later and the reception did a good job of passing on a message from my mate who got there and checked in first.

The room itself was a bit out of date with an old CRT TV, and with a generally well-used feel to everything. The attached hotel bar is actually a pub/bar which was OK. Breakfast was a cooked buffet with some cereals, fruit and juices on the side. All adequate.

The main thing about this hotel is its great central location, from which we walked to the Guinness factory and the Aviva stadium on our weekend there. Also nearby were the main shopping and drinking districts!

We stayed here for two nights from 5th to 7th December. The staff were friendly and helpful. Yes it is a little dated but for the price we paid we didn't expect 5* luxury. Our ages ranged from 20 to 68 with six of us sharing three rooms. The beds were enormous and the rooms were very warm. We had rooms at the front of the hotel on floors 3, 4 and 5. As it was a weekend we expected it to be noisy but nothing a good pair of ear plugs couldn't deal with. We enjoyed a drink in the bar each night and found the service great with a really good atmosphere. I had the room on the 5th floor and we all thought out of the 3 rooms it was the best. The fixtures and fittings were all newer. The location was great. Close to the shops and lots of bars/restaurants. We had a great meal at the Hairy lemon across from the hotel and another at The Larder on Parliament street. We breakfasted at Bewelys on Grafton street. A full Irish with drinks 9.95 in wonderful surroundings. I would definitely do it all again

Room Tip: Not sure which rooms would be quieter.

The hotel could use some updating, it is quite old. The hotel states that there is wifi in the lobby but It did not work very well. You had to go outside to use the wifi which is where the signal was. That was a little bit annoying.
We had a big room with a king size bed and was very happy about that. The room was made up daily and we have no complaints about that.
I must warn all that it does get noisy at night on the weekends. We were on the 5th floor(the top floor) and you can hear the noise from the bars outside. I would say the noise ended around 2-3am. Again, this wasn't every day, just on the weekends.
The location is great that I must say.

Stayed at the Grafton with friends whilst in Dublin for the rugby. The Grafton is clean, it has an acceptable breakfast (I'd like to see more fresh fruit on offer), the room was a decent size and the bed was comfortable. The decor is looking tired and is in need of need of redecoration. The TV was al old tube one, which would not have been so bad if I could have got RTE on it - but no although I could get UTV and BBC!
The hotel has a decent bart beside it but I was told it was closed on Sunday!! There is however an excellent popular pub across the road which also does very good meals -'The Hairy Lemon'. One of the biggest strengths of this hotel is it's central location meaning that the Guinness Brewery, Aviva Stadium, Dublin Castle, Temple Bar, The Post Office, Trinity College Dublin,The Book of Kells etc are all within walking distance. We went to the Guinness Brewery which exceeded all our expectations and is well worth a visit - give yourself at least and two hours , and if you can go earlier in the day when it is less crowded. There are plenty
Overall the Grafton Capital is situated in an ideal spot, is clean, comfortable if a bit tired. Two of my colleagues were kept awake by the basement disco -I wasn't so maybe need to check your room if you are not intending joining in (free access for those in hotel;) - I was in 308 .

The location was great, service, and price was overall good. The only thing I would say negative is the restaurant/bar was only open Thursday to Sunday. Maybe because it is off season but it was never mentioned they were closed the rest of the days (One of the reasons for picking this hotel because the reviews were positive about the restaurant/bar). If you fly into Dublin airport you can take the bus to the hotel for less than 15euro or take a taxi for 20-30 euro. As soon as you walk out of the hotel, restaurants and bars are right across the street and to the right is the mall. The receptionist was very nice and helpful with questions. Rooms were clean and a nice view. Overall great location for a great price.

The hotel is well placed for seeing several of this great city's attractions; most within walking distance.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is comfortable and clean. Some of the rooms are huge! The decor is looking a little tired. Generally it was good value for money.
So, what about the 'but'?
What isn't mentioned when you book is that there is a night club in the basement. The first we knew of this was as we arrived and were told by the taxi driver. The noise on Saturday was dreadful and kept me awake till nearly 3.00 a.m. The hotel did agree to a reduction in the bill.
The hotel bar was closed on Sunday and Monday evenings, which is where the evening meals are served.
If you went in the week you could do a lot worse. There are plenty of good places to eat a few minutes walk away. Weekends avoid unless you have ear plugs!

We have just come back from a lovely long week-end in Dublin where we stayed at the Grafton Capitol Hotel. The hotel's location is excellent; right in the city centre, close to many nice pubs and restaurants and the lovely St Stephen Green Park. Yes, the hotel is a bit dated and in need of some refurbishment but the room was spacious and the bed big and comfy. The bathroom was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. No major issues with noise, just what you would expect to hear when you're staying in the middle of a city and are surrounded by bars and restaurants. We didn't sample the breakfast at the hotel but had some lovely breakfasts at one of the cafes opposite the hotel and a very nice meal at the Hairy Lemon pub/restaurant also opposite the hotel. We would stay in this hotel again as it was very good value for money and as said previously in an excellent spot - just don't expect it to be the Hilton.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 4th floor with view of an office in a side street. It was fairly quiet.
