“Save yourself, book elsewhere!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

I was staying in the Ballsbrodge with a conference, and the experience was terrible. The first room I was given was dirty, with bits of food all over it even after it was "cleaned" and the shower was filthy and mildewed and even has tile missing in the tub. I asked to be moved to a second room which was mildly cleaner, but the matterss was so dirty (no mattress pad and the mattress was FILTHY and stained all over) that the only way I could sleep was to double the duvet like a sleeping bag and get inside of it. The hotel was incredibly loud- all of the doors slam each time they are closed and the doors and walls are not soundproof. When rowdy guests started yelling in the halls in the middle of the night and I called the front desk to ask if they could intervene, nothing happened so i called back two hours later. I'm not sure if the iother guests were asked to be quiet or just ran out of steam. Finally, the wifi that you pay for rarely, if ever, works; but no refund is given. I stayed in a lovely hotel close to this area, and see no reason why anyone would ever choose the Ballsbridge when they have nicer, cleaner, cheaper options all over the Ballsbridge area of Dublin! Save yourself- do NOT book here.

Rooms are not soundproof...I could hear every word spoken next door in a normal voice. And seriously, even the bus system offers free wifi, yet here it's 8 euros, per device, per 24 hours. Insane. Our first room smelled of mold & mildew, our second was better, just annoyed that I can't get silence.

My friends and I stayed here the night of a concert in the RDS. The location was the main factor for booking.

The room was fine, could have been a small bit cleaner. The halls leading up to the rooms were very unattractive with paint stripped from the walls and exposed cables found at several points. There could have been renovations ongoing, but there were no workers to be seen and it remained the same for the duration of our stay.

The day of the concert, there were lot's of people in the bar who were shouting abuse at many passers-by. I know this is largely beyond the hotel staff's control but I felt it could have been dealt with a lot better.

Despite the somewhat disappointing experience, I would be willing to stay here again if I needed to be close to the RDS.

I spent a weekend with a friend in Dublin and we had booked a discounted trip on the Internet (French website called "voyagesprivés.com" where this hotel was included.
I had a wonderful surprise. We arrived rather early in the morning and we were greeted very nicely.
We asked to change room because we wanted two beds instead of one which was done immediately.
Good buffet breakfast, with plenty of choice.
The pub is very nice with a wonderful atmosphere and smiling waiters and waitresses!
Of course, as we speak English, we didn't have any problems (we both are French).
We were a little bit far from the city centre but we don't mind walking.
The shuttle to the airport is just outside the hotel.
I loved my stay and would recommend this hotel.

Stayed as mature couple on 2 Mar 2013. Very nice spacious room in The Towers, hotel staff very helpful, etc. On the negative side the room was unbearably warm even with window open and would wish that money spent on heating, etc. might be channelled towards the overall cost of room, parking, breakfast etc..Only meal we had in hotel was breakfast and I found that the cooked breakfast was cold and not an enjoyable experience, maybe because it was Sun morning and there was a longish wait to be seated as it was beginning to run late...

I stayed at the Ballsbridge Hotel Feb. 28th - Mar 6th, 2013. Overall the stay was very good. Beds are comfortable, rooms are clean, wifi is reliable and fast. The hotel was conveniently located for us as we were attending an event at the RS. It was an easy walk to City Centre, St. Stephen's Green, Grafton Street, etc.

The tap water is very good, so no need for bottled water unless that is your preference. When requesting an iron and ironing board it was only minutes till it arrived.

The coach that will take you to the airport stops right outside the hotel so very convenient and much cheaper than taking a taxi.

The onsite restaurants are good.

Tips to help other visitors:
- room has no alarm clock so if you like to see the time bring one with you
- room does not have a fridge or safe
- in room coffee is instant
- room has wall mounted liquid soap to be used for hair and body and no other toiletry amenities
- no notepads or pens in the room

Room Tip: I was in room 507 which was ideally located. A friend was in the back part of the hotel and he said...

We stayed at this hotel on a recent trip to Ireland on both the front end and back end of the trip. The first night we were booked in a standard double room in the older section of the hotel. It was clean but very old and worn. The beds were small and not very comfortable. When we came back at the end of our trip I asked for a King and was upgraded to the Towers. What a difference! Well worth 10 extra euros! The room was large and new, the bathroom was large and new, there was a working thermostat to control the heat and take the chill off AND there was a 110 v outlet for our "stuff" from home! NICE!

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a room in the Tower section!!!
