Easy access, free car parking & a quick, friendly, efficient check in, just 3 of the many positive things to note about this hotel. Having stayed previously in other Bewleys Hotels, my non smoking room on the 2nd floor was as I expected it to be, simple but clean & comfortable. Although I had only booked a single room I was given a decent sized room which actually had a single bed, double bed & a sofa bed. Bright, with cream coloured walls & oak doors & furniture, it had virtually everything that was needed for a pleasant stay with tv, tea/coffee, dresser, iron, ironing board & trouser press, large wardrobe, hairdryer, table, chairs, smoke alarm, 2 mirrors, very comfortable bed & bedding. There was no minibar, safe or aircon, the room being heated by a radiator & trv. There was absolutely no issue with noise in the room from outside the hotel but I did have an interrupted night's sleep thanks to the noise from the neighbouring room (loud tv, pounding on the door & overly loud conversation) which went on in to the wee hours & woke me several times. I mentioned this at reception on my way to breakfast & they assured me that they would speak to the occupants of the room.
Like the bedroom, the bathroom was bright & ok sizewise. It had bath, fixed head high pressure shower, shower curtain, shower gel in a dispenser, towels, large mirror, liquid soap, shaving socket & retractable clothes line. When I first entered my room the toilet cistern was running constantly which was quite noisy & annoying to listen to. It took several minutes for me to get it stopped & I had no further problems with it after that.
I had a good dinner (served from 5.30 pm to 9.30) in the Brasserie Restaurant. Reasonably priced & with plenty of choice on the menu, all courses were well cooked, tasty & had large portions. The staff in the restaurant were particularily attentive & all were friendly, going about their work efficiently & with a smile on their face. The restaurant itself had a nice atmosphere, was well designed, fairly rustic & was comfortable with plenty of space between tables.
The bar/lounge was quite large with a nice atmosphere & comfortable seating, perfect for a relaxed drink or two before calling it a night.
Breakfast (7.00 am to 12.30), also served in the Brasserie Restaurant, was buffet style with cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit slices, croissants, muffins & other pastries, toast, full Irish fry, tea, coffee, fruit juices etc.
Some other bits of info. There are ice making machines & shoe buffing machines on every floor at the lift & vending machines with soft drinks, crisps & chocolate bars at the lift, behind reception. Security is good with card controlled access at reception to the doors leading to the lift & stairs to the guest rooms.I was only aware of one lift which was situated close to reception. Check out was by 12.00 noon & there were complimentary national daily & evening newspapers available at reception.
The only negative of my visit was the nightime noise from the neighbouring room but that was more than offset by everything else about my stay, especially as mentioned previously, the excellent restaurant staff plus the staff at reception & by the comfort of my room. All in all, a very pleasant & enjoyable stay.
