“Heart Breaking Reminder”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

These sculptures accurately reflect the dejection of Irish immigrants leaving a country they loved in hopes of a new world that would keep them from starving. Gillespie did an excellent job depicting a harsh time in Irish history when a great number of people were starving. Viewing them is a solemn experience.

“Quite moving”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

Came across this by accident while walking along the river Liffey. Sculptures of people who represent the suffering endured during the potato famine. Quite chilling to think the Irish people suffered this much. A humbling piece of history.

“Powerful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

These wraith-like figures provoke deep responses and caution us against genocide of all types, everywhere. In terms of human loss and displacement, the powerful against the weak, cruelty versus justice, it is a chilling reminder. Highly recommended.

“A MUST simple”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013 via mobile

Tells the story of the horrible time in Ireland and the way they have been done makes you VERY humble. Worth a ways down also very telling position of statues outside the bank at a time of super bonuses. Makes you think

“Very Gut Wrenching”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

Hard to believe what the people had to go through, so very sad. The Sculpture I think is a must see. To think potatoes caused the famine that lasted 3 years and changed so many lives.
