Last Sunday morning we visited the National Botanic Gardens in Dublin. We were staying in the city centre and it was a very easy 15 min bus ride from O'Connell street - bus No 4 or 9
We got there shortly after opening at 10.00 and spent a whole morning looking round - fantastic collections of trees in parkland settings, plus organics fruit and veg, and lots of interesting sculptures, flower borders and an exhibit about the geology of Ireland. Also 3 large greenhouses with tropical/subtropical & Mediterranean plants, alpines and some great peaches vines & fruit. Also a rose garden, a café and restaurant and some indoor space, so it would also be good in the wet. Fortunately for us it was hot and sunny and looked quite superb. Great inspiration for your own garden, large or small.
Thoroughly recommend a visit. Very easy to get to and peaceful compared to the bustling city!
