“Beautiful well kept square”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

I used to live just around the corner from this square and love it. It has a childrens park to entertain the children and a lovely hill for rolling down for the big kids! The paths and grounds are well maintained and they have plenty of events throughout the year. The only thing that needs some work are some of the benches.

“A lovely space to wander”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

If you enjoy manicured parks without them a bit too manicured, then you will enjoy Merrion Square. There are delights at most turns along the path and some very interesting sculptures and statues. Well worth the slight detour from the shopping district for a bit of quieter time out. Someone here mentioned that this is where you get to see the 'Cock on a Rock' Oscar Wilde statute. My Dublin friend told me it was called the 'Fag on a Crag'.

“Lovely outdoor space”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

The less obvious park to visit near St Stephen's green, is an oasis of calm in the city (except when they have the Street Performance Championships). Houses some nice public art, including "The Cock on a Rock" - Oscar Wilde statue to non-Dubliners.

“Do you like statues?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

This park has a lot of statues, One of the first I saw it was an Oscar Wilde statue. It's really great to disconnect from the world there.

“Nice for a walkabout”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

There's plenty of places around Dublin that can be nice fr a wander. merion is another on of these places. It used to be mainly residential but now offices and head offices of some prominent s societies, like Red Cross, Irish Georgian society, you will find the Catholic Library there but to me I think the Irish Traditional Music Archive is the most significant society there, no disrespect to the others. But most importantly both WB Yeats and Daniel O'Connell lived on the square. So this square is such an important part of both Dublin and Irish history. Go breath in a part of Irish tradition and history.
