This is probably one of those monuments that mean more to you if you know the history of the man. James Connolly was a socialist politician who was heavily involved in Irelands fight for independence from Britain, and was actually executed for his involvement in the Easter Rising in 1916. As such, he is a key figure in the history of Irish independence.
The monument is a small and relatively simple statue standing in front of a small wall. As monuments go, it is quite simple. Worth a look to see this dedication to the man who played a major part in shaping Ireland as we know it today, but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to see it.
